||| FROM SAN JUAN COUNTY COMMUNICATIONS |||

Please participate in the San Juan County Department of Community Development’s Pop-up Studio and Open House events regarding the 2036 Comprehensive Plan update. These events are intended to provide an opportunity for County residents to learn about the work that has been done during the 2036 Comprehensive Plan update project, including proposed policy changes. Community input is vital to ensure that the Comprehensive Plan reflects the aspirations of all county residents.  These events give residents another way to participate in shaping the 2036 Comprehensive Plan update. The schedule is listed below:

San Juan Island, Tuesday, October 26

  • Pop-up studio – Noon – 5:00 pm at Brickworks courtyard; Sunshine Alley, Friday Harbor
  • Community open house – 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Brickworks; 150 Nichols Street, Friday Harbor

Orcas Island, Wednesday, October 27

The Pop-up Studios and Open Houses will address eight main Comprehensive Plan topics: the Vision, housing affordability, transportation, economic development, climate change, water resources, rural character, and urban growth areas. Participants will learn about how the Comprehensive Plan addresses these topics and will have an opportunity to provide general feedback. Following the Pop-ups and Open Houses, in early 2022 the Planning Commission will hold town hall events to gather more specific public feedback. The Planning Commission will use public feedback to refine the drafts of the Comprehensive Plan elements.
