Access to technology is not enough to improve student achievement. Teachers need support in providing quality instruction that integrates the use of technology effectively into their instruction to promote higher-level thinking skills.
A proposal to form a Site Council for the Orcas Island School District which would expand the ability of teachers to integrate technology into their teaching to support and enhance curriculum will be discussed at the PTSA meeting at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 15, in the school library.
Proposals for the site council, include:
- purpose of the site council
- bylaws from the OASIS site council that can serve as a starting point for our discussion
- a sample school improvement plan from another Washington school district
It is hoped that as a result of the presentation, a group will be formed to formalize the site council bylaws and that candidates for the parent portion will be identified.
If you are interested in serving on the site council or have a school improvement idea, either attend the PTSA meeting or submit your interest to the PTSA before the meeting.
