||| FROM MEGAN EHRMANTRAUT for ORCAS COMMUNITY RESOURCE CENTER |||
With the lazy days of summer approaching on Orcas, many preschoolers are looking forward to a big first step towards Kindergarten this fall.
The Orcas Community Resource Center (OCRC) is excited to once again be holding the Kindergarten Transition Banquet on May 24 (with an event RSVP date of May 17) to celebrate children headed from preschool to kindergarten regardless of where they will attend school (OISD public, Montessori, home-school, Orcas Christian School, Salmonberry or other).
This no-cost event is sponsored by the Early Childhood Education & Assistance Program (ECEAP), OCRC and a generous local donor.
A sit down dinner for parents and their up-and-coming kindergarteners will be held Tuesday, May 24, at the Emmanuel Episcopal Parish Hall, with seating times of 5:30 and 6 p.m. Dinner is followed by an opportunity to participate in learning activity centers facilitated by preschool and kindergarten teachers. As the evening wraps up, children will be presented with a backpack full of activities they can enjoy with family at home including a gift certificate to be redeemed at Darvill’s Bookstore.
Parents may sign up to attend the event at their respective schools or by contacting the Orcas Community Resource Center at 360-376-3184 or info@orcascrc.org. Childcare is provided for siblings, which can be requested at the time of sign up. Mark your calendars and be sure to sign up by May 17. Attendees can look forward to what is sure to be a fun-filled informative evening!
