San Juan Deputies responded to a report of a domestic violence order violation. One individual was arrested and booked into jail.

A Deputy responded to a walk in delayed report of a hit & run that may have occurred on Orcas Island. The reporting party observed the damage on 8/5/22 but didn’t know when it actually occurred. There is also no suspect information, no witnesses, & no video of the incident. Report made.

A Deputy on San Juan Island received an Adult Protective Services referral regarding financial exploitation. The funds were sent to a foreign country and the incident was documented.
22-006545 Court Order Violation 10:38:08 09/08/22
A San Juan Deputy responded to a report of a domestic violence order violation regarding a call made from an inmate inside the jail. The inmate was further booked for a violation of a no-contact order.

A Deputy responded to a walk in report of a found property. The reporting party found a coin purse in the road. The owner was contacted and the property was returned to the owner. Photos & property form attached to files in report.

A Lopez Deputy and Lopez Fire EMS responded to when a motorcyclist lost control and crashed on Fisherman Bay Road. The cyclist lost several fingers and was airlifted to a hospital.

An Orcas Island Deputy contacted a subject who was found to be driving on a suspended license. A report was forwarded to the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for review.

A Deputy responded to a walk in report of a found wallet on the trails between Dead Mans Cove and Lime Kiln Park. The identification in the wallet was out of North Carolina and an owner was unable to be located. The wallet was entered into the property room per policy.

An Orcas Island Deputy authored a courtesy report regarding a civil matter on the 2100 block of Deer Harbor Rd.

A Deputy on San Juan Island took a report of found property. The purse was entered into the evidence system as the owner was unable to be contacted.

A Deputy on San Juan Island responded to a report of a hit and run. The reporting party contacted the suspect and agreed to go through insurance. The reporting party did not want to pursue the incident criminally.

A Lopez Deputy responded when a concerned Lopez citizen believed that an agricultural sprinkler system by Hummel Lake was making the road unsafe. Upon investigation, the road was wet, but not a traffic hazard.

A Lopez Deputy responded to a noise complaint. An intoxicated individual who was having a loud conversation outside late at night was issued a noise ordinance infraction.

San Juan Deputies received a report of a possible DUI in the area of Spring St and Argyle Ave. The vehicle was located, and the driver was found to be intoxicated. The driver was cooperative with no prior record, so they were released on their own recognizance.

A Lopez Deputy received a noise complaint related to a broken refrigeration machine outside the grocery store. The store manager was notified.

A Lopez Deputy was called to check on two dogs who were barking and possibly in distress. The dogs were happy to visit with the Deputy, and were simply bothered by nearby chainsaw activity. The owner returned home to calm the dogs.

A Deputy was dispatched to a Littering in the San Juan Island area. The Deputy located a large electronic equipment at the location. Public Works was contacted to pick the item up for disposal. Report taken.

A Deputy was dispatched to a Found Property in the Friday Harbor area. The Deputy contacted the person calling and picked up the item. The item was entered into evidence. Report taken.

A San Juan Deputy responded to a report of a death investigation. The death appears to be natural and was turned over to the Coroner’s Office for investigation.

An Orcas Island Deputy issued a mooring citation to a boat left at the Obstruction Pass public dock.

A small dog jumped out of their owner’s vehicle and bolted after a rabbit in the village. The dog was quickly recovered and no rabbits were harmed.

A Deputy on San Juan Island responded to a report of a citizen dispute. Both parties were contacted and advised to keep their distance from each other. The reason for the dispute was a civil matter and parties were advised to handle through the courts.

A Deputy on San Juan Island responded to a report of a theft. Personal items were accidentally left at a local business but had not been returned.

A Deputy was dispatched to the ferry landing for a Disruptive Passenger. The Deputy arrived but the passenger refused to cooperate. The passenger was allowed to leave the ferry because no crime was committed. Report taken.

Deputies on San Juan Island responded to disorderly conduct in the jail. An inmate refused to uncover the cell security camera, preventing safety monitoring. The Deputies gained control of the individual and escorted him into the safety cell.

A Deputy on San Juan Island responded to a report of a noise violation and citizen dispute. The dispute was a civil matter and the music was turned down. A subject was given a verbal warning for the noise ordinance violation.

A Lopez Island Deputy responded with Lopez Island Fire & EMS to a bicycle accident on Fisherman Bay Rd. The good Samaritans that discovered the accident remained on scene and assisted the first responders. The operator of the bicycle was flown to the mainland for medical treatment.

An Orcas Island Deputy took a courtesy report of a vehicle stolen from a hotel parking lot in SeaTac Washington. The courtesy report was forwarded to the King County Sheriff’s Office for follow-up.

A Deputy on San Juan Island took a report of a found debit card. The owner was contacted and advised where the card was. The owner retrieved the item.

A Deputy on San Juan Island responded to a report of found/abandoned property. A subject came into the Sheriff’s Office and intentionally left a folder of papers after dispatch advised them not to leave it. The subject left the folder and the item was entered into evidence.

A Deputy on San Juan Island responded to a welfare check. An individual had used a lot more nicotine patches at once than suggested on the box. The individual was seen by EMS and taken to the hospital for further evaluation.

An Orcas Island Deputy investigated a domestic violence incident on the 200 block of Palloyed Dr. A subject was arrested and booked in jail.

A Deputy was dispatched to an Agency Assist in the Friday Harbor area. Another agency was reporting a suspicious circumstance. Report taken.

A Deputy on San Juan Island responded to a citizen assist regarding vagrancy and littering. The suspects were contacted and advised of the laws pertaining to throwing ignited material on the ground.
22-006699 Suicide, Actual 20:07:30 09/13/22
San Juan County Sheriff Personnel responded to a reported suicide attempt on Orcas Island. The suicide attempt was thwarted by persons on scene. The victim was transported via EMS to a hospital for evaluation.
22-006702 Burglary – Residential 23:13:54 09/13/22
Sheriff Personnel responded to a reported active burglary in which person(s) were attempting to break into an occupied residence. No physical evidence was found of forced entry attempts and no unauthorized persons were found on the premise. A report was completed.
