Lopez Island Deputies were dispatched to a citizen assist call. It was determined that the caller had information pertaining to a previously reported incident. An informational report was taken.

A Deputy on San Juan Island received a report of a suspicious person. The Deputy contacted the person and observed a conditions of release violation. The report was sent up to the probation department for the violation.

Deputies on Orcas Island made contact with a subject with an active warrant. The subject was arrested without incident.
23-008142 Citizen Dispute 18:03:49 10/11/23
A Deputy was called out from home after a dispute involving the violation of dog park rules became very heated. The Deputy contacted the involved parties and de-escalated the situation. The park manager was informed of the incident.

A Deputy on Orcas Island was dispatched to report of online extortion. A report was taken.
THURSDAY, OCTOBER 12
23-008151 Trespassing 09:20:15 10/12/23
Lopez Deputies and EMS responded when an individual accidentally locked themselves in a public restroom. An EMT dismantled the door, rescuing the trapped individual.
23-008155 Wanted Person 11:28:34 10/12/23
A Deputy arrested a person on a Department of Corrections warrant at their residence. Person was taken into custody without incident. Person transported to the Sheriff’s Office and booked into custody.

23-008157 Accident-HitRun 12:15:25 10/12/23
A Lopez Deputy responded to an Accident Hit and Run. A driver backed into a vehicle parked in a parking lot. The driver exited their vehicle, looked at the damage, then sped off. The investigation is ongoing.

A Lopez Deputy responded when two vehicles collided at a sharp downhill turn on Whiskey Hill Road. The drivers were uninjured. They exchanged information.

A Lopez individual called to report that a political sign he posted near the road had been stolen. A report was taken.
23-008169 Welfare Check 18:32:34 10/12/23
A Deputy on San Juan Island received a report of a welfare check. The Deputy observed that the person needed medical attention and San Juan EMS treated the person.
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 13
23-008179 Aircraft Problem 11:48:23 10/13/23
Orcas Island Officers were dispatched to an aircraft accident south of the Eastsound Airport. There were no injuries reported and the airplane was removed from the field without incident. The FAA and NTSB were contacted. A report was taken.
23-008180 Parking Problem 12:01:21 10/13/23
A Deputy responded to a vehicle parked, blocking the entrance to a private driveway off a public roadway. Upon contact with the single occupant of the vehicle, the person was uncooperative and combative. The occupant was taken into custody for obstructing a law enforcement officer and Booked in jail.

Dispatch was contacted about damage to property in the Friday Harbor area. The person stated he had been using an ATM when he damaged the keys. The owner of the ATM was contacted and advised of the incident. Report taken.

A Deputy was contacted about a Found Property. The person turned over the item to dispatch as found property. The item was entered into evidence. Report taken.

A Deputy was dispatched to a disturbance on the Ferry. The Deputy arrived and contacted the crew. The crew advised two people in a vehicle were acting erratic. Deputy made contact and one person was detained for investigation of DUI. Report taken.

A Deputy on Orcas Island was contacted by a citizen who had a trailer stolen. The citizen was able to locate the trailer later that day.
23-008197 Threats 20:47:04 10/13/23
A San Juan Deputy was booking an individual for DUI when the individual’s boyfriend threatened the Deputy’s life. The individual was located in a public restroom and was arrested for felony harassment. A large bag containing several substances was located and entered into evidence.

Deputies on Orcas Island were dispatched to a citizen dispute. No assault took place and a report was taken.

San Juan Deputies responded to a local restaurant for a report of a citizen dispute. An individual was arrested for malicious mischief 3rd degree and was booked into jail.

A person contacted the Sheriff’s Office about Found Property. The person turned an item into the Sheriff’s Office. The item was entered into evidence as Found Property. Report taken.
23-008208 Theft 10:54:26 10/14/23
A Deputy was dispatched to a Theft in the Friday Harbor area. A person was caught on security footage taking an item from a local business. The person was identified and charged with Theft 3rd. Report taken.
23-008219 DUI 18:51:05 10/14/23
A Deputy on Orcas Island was dispatched to a report of a possible drunk driver. The driver was located and arrested for DUI.
SUNDAY, OCTOBER 15
23-008228 Theft 08:20:28 10/15/23
A Deputy on Orcas Island responded to a theft complaint. A property owner claimed a building contractor quit and took some materials with him. The contractor claimed he had not been paid for his work or the materials. The Deputy determined the case to be a civil issue.
23-008229 Burglary – Residential 09:38:26 10/15/23
A Deputy on Orcas Island responded to a residential burglary complaint. After investigation, the Deputy determined the complaint was unfounded.

A Deputy on Orcas responded to a citizen dispute. After an investigation was completed no crime was found.
MONDAY, OCTOBER 16
23-008246 Trespassing 10:10:47 10/16/23
A Deputy on San Juan Island received a report from WA State Ferries that they wanted someone trespassed from the Ferry. The Deputy contacted the citizen and informed them that they were trespassed.
23-008249 Controlled Substance Problem 13:48:52 10/16/23
A Deputy on Orcas Island responded to a drugs complaint. An unknown person left what appeared to be illicit drugs behind at a rental residence. The suspected drugs were collected and booked into evidence for destruction.

A Lopez Island Deputy was contacted by an individual that wanted to report an individual for trespassing. The incident was documented.
23-008266 Malicious Mischief 18:51:33 10/16/23
A Deputy on San Juan Island took a report of vandalism. An individual returned to the island to find that a tire on their vehicle was flat and had possibly been slashed. At this time there is no suspect information or workable leads. A report was completed.
TUESDAY, OCTOBER 17
23-008271 Malicious Mischief 07:12:43 10/17/23
San Juan Deputies responded to a report of vandalism in progress. Upon arrival, a Friday Harbor resident was found smashing a 10 lb sledgehammer into a vehicle doing significant damage. The male was arrested and booked into jail for Malicious Mischief 1st pending a hearing with the judge.

A San Juan Deputy responded to a report of vandalism at Lot C at the ferry landing. A window was broken, a jacket was taken and 2 tires were stabbed with a sharp object. A report was taken with no leads at this time.
