A Lopez Deputy responded to a vandalism call. The interior of one of the public bathrooms in the village was “egged.” Management of the park is considering increasing security measures.

A Deputy on San Juan Island took a report of fraud. An unknown person sent a local individual a fake cashiers check for an item they had listed for sale. The individual did not report a loss of money or loss of the item they listed for sale. A report was completed.

A Lopez Island Deputy was dispatched to an Animal Problem. The owner was given a verbal warning and the incident was documented.

A resident of Dolphin Bay Road reported a string of missing packages from their mailbox. A report was taken and steps to mitigate the issue are being taken by the homeowner.

A Lopez Deputy responded to a deceased person incident.

23-008371 Vicious Animal 15:42:36 10/20/23
Lopez Deputies responded to when a dog fight broke out. The owner of the dogs was injured while attempting to separate them. They were tended to by Lopez EMS and airlifted to a hospital. The dogs were brought to a veterinary hospital.

A San Juan Deputy responded to a report of an order violation. No crime was committed, and the incident was documented.

A San Juan Deputy responded to a report of an overdose. The Deputy administered 3 doses of Narcan and the individual was transported to the hospital for treatment.

A San Juan Deputy responded to a report of an overdose. The reporting party was able to administer Narcan, and the individual was transported to the emergency room for treatment.

A Lopez resident reported late night hunting on a private road. The unknown hunter was trespassing and is in violation of hunting laws.

23-008397 Suspicious Person/Circumstance 21:12:45 10/21/23
San Juan Deputies responded to a report of a suspicious individual. The individual was contacted and believed to be intoxicated, which was against their court conditions of release. The report was forwarded to the individuals probation officer.

A Deputy on Orcas Island responded to a fraud complaint. An investigation commenced and is ongoing.

23-008403 Civil Problem 11:09:39 10/22/23
A report of a stolen laptop was filed with the Sheriff’s Office. After an investigation, it was determined to be civil in nature. No further action was taken.

23-008404 Court Order Violation 12:12:35 10/22/23
A Friday Harbor man was taken into custody for a violation of a protection order by coming within 250 feet of a residence. He was booked into the jail pending a hearing with the judge.

23-008409 Vicious Animal 14:09:55 10/22/23
Two large dogs attacked another dog who was on a leash on San Juan Island. The victim dog suffered a minor injury to its hind leg. The owner of the suspect dogs was eventually contacted and a report was filed.

A Deputy on Orcas Island took a stray dog to the animal shelter.

A Lopez Island Deputy was dispatched to a Dog at Large on the Northend. The dog was reunited with its owner and the owner was subsequently issued a Dog at Large Warning letter.

A Deputy on San Juan Island responded to a single vehicle non-injury accident. The driver of the vehicle struck a deer, which caused enough damage to the vehicle for it to be towed. A report was completed.

A Deputy on San Juan Island responded to a report of a male jumping out of the bushes and intentionally breaking vehicle mirror and bending the antenna. The Deputy located the individual and spoke with the victim. The victim did not wish to pursue the matter criminally. A report was completed.

An Orcas Island Deputy responded to a traffic hazard on the 800 block of Olga Rd. A vehicle was found abandoned blocking the southbound lane of traffic and was subsequently towed.

A Deputy on Orcas Island received a mail theft complaint.

A Friday Harbor resident asked a person be trespassed from his property officially. A trespass statement was taken, and the individual will be trespassed.

A Deputy on San Juan Island responded to an agency assist. A child was taken into protective custody. The investigation is on-going.

A Lopez Island Deputy was dispatched to a Citizen Assist Call. The incident was documented.

23-008460 Accident-NonInj 12:54:28 10/24/23
A Deputy on Orcas Island responded to a non-injury collision. The damage did not meet the threshold for mandatory reporting. An exchange of information was facilitated. One driver was issued a notice of infraction for following too close, expired registration over 2 months and no insurance.

23-008466 Malicious Mischief 16:37:41 10/24/23
A Deputy on San Juan Island took a report of vandalism. A portable toilet had been damaged by unknown means and by an unknown person. There are no workable leads and there is no suspect information at this time. A report was completed.

A Deputy on San Juan Island responded to a report of a possible residential burglary. Nothing was missing or out of place in the residence; however, personal items were left behind. A report was completed.

A Deputy on San Juan Island took a report of found property. An ATM card has been left at a business in Friday Harbor. The owner was unable to be located, the ATM card was placed into evidence as found property. A report was completed.
