Wow.
Welcome to San Juan Island, whose income is largely dependent on tourism. Just got off the ferry? Looking for a parking spot as you go up a couple blocks on Spring St? Forgot to buckle your seatbelt for the 4 block trip? Great! You have now contributed to the local economy! And the police have justified their existence in this peaceful isle.
Of course, they probably won’t come back or suggest it to friends. But then again. A lot of folks don’t really like those guys clogging up our ferries any ways.
My tax dollars at work.
You assume it was a tourist? could be a local. And I’d like to thank the Deputies for their hard work in a sometimes Thankless job. Nobody is happy to get a ticket, but we live in a small place and often don’t think seat belts are needed. Same laws apply here.
