15-001430 On March 25, 2015 at about 1400 hours, a Mental Health Professional asked for the assistance of the San Juan County Sheriff’s Department and OIFR in an involuntary mental health hold. Units responded to the patient’s home. The patient was evaluated and taken in for an involuntary mental health hold.

15-001439, 07:03:07 03/26/15 A San Juan County Deputy responded to a reported road hazard in the vicinity of Center Road and Fisherman Bay Road, Lopez Island. The hazard, which was reported to be a dead deer in the road, was gone by the time the Deputy arrived. The call was cleared without incident.

15-001440 Wanted Person 09:05:47 03/26/15 A wanted subject turned himself in at the S.J. Courthouse and was taken into custody, pending a hearing.

15-001442 Harassment 10:26:47 03/26/15 A female tenant contacted the Sheriff’s Office to complain about unwanted attention from an older male tenant of the same apartments. The male was contacted and advised to not be near the female’s apartment or attempt to make contact with her. He said he understood and would stop.

15-001443 Vehicle Prowl 10:32:10 03/26/15 A victim came to the Sheriff’s office to report a broken window and theft from his vehicle, parked in town. Victim states the incident happened on the night of 3-22, but he was checking with acquaintances first before reporting it. There was no useful physical evidence in the truck.

15-001444 Vehicle Prowl 10:37:34 03/26/15 A victim called to report a vehicle prowl and theft that had occurred on 03-13-15. The victim had left an item of jewelry on the front seat of his unlocked car, parked in town. When he returned the item was missing. No suspects or physical evidence at this time.

15-001447 Fraud 12:28:18 03/26/15 A man reported being the victim of fraud. It was discovered that he had been contacted by a debt company and was informed he owed over a thousand dollars for medical services in California during a time he was on Orcas Island.

15-001448 Theft 13:13:27 03/26/15 An Eastsound woman reported that $2000-$3000 dollars worth of kayaking gear had disappeared without receipt from an Eastsound consignment shop. The owner of the shop has left the state and closed the business without notifying the owner of the kayak gear.

15-001455 Harassment 20:03:37 03/26/15 A deputy was contacted at the Orcas Substation about an incident that occurred in the 10 block of Hope Lane Eastsound a few days earlier. The reporting persons requested a threatening, harassing incident be documented.

15-001457 Suspicious Person/Circumstance 21:22:58 03/26/15 Deputies responded to Sunken Park to investigate a male that appeared to be camping. The male informed deputies that he would be leaving the island and headed for Anacortes.

15-001459 Area Check 06:35:02 03/27/15 A deputy was dispatched to an alarm at a bank in Eastsound. The building was found secured and not tampered with.

15-001460 Animal at Large 07:41:32 03/27/15 A deputy was dispatched to a report of a horse in the roadway between the West Sound and Deer Harbor areas of Orcas Island. Upon arrival the deputy was unable to locate the horse or find out who its owner was.

15-001468 Theft 13:52:54 03/27/15 An Eastsound day care center reported that their shed was broken into and an a gas can was stolen. Investigation continues.

15-001469 Malicious Mischief 15:58:03 03/27/15 A San Juan County Deputy responded to vicinity Skookum Lane, Lopez Island, regarding a damaged privately owned road sign and littering. No suspects or witnesses were identified.

15-001472 Vicious Animal 17:03:56 03/27/15 A SJCSO Deputy received a report of some horses that were not being taken care of on Trumpeter Way. The Deputy observed the horses and did not see any evidence that they were not being well cared for. This report is for information only.

15-001474 Suspicious Person/Circumstance 20:08:25 03/27/15 Deputies were dispatched to Heron Lane in reference to a Trespassing. The reporting deputy arrived and contacted the involved parties. After a short conversation, it was determined to be a family issue and an agreement was worked out. No enforcement action needed.

15-001478 Traffic Stop 23:34:29 03/27/15 A San Juan County Sheriff Deputy stopped a vehicle for a lane violation on Orcas Road, Eastsound. Further investigation revealed there was probable cause to believe the female driver was driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor and or drugs. The driver was arrested and later released

15-001479 Welfare Check 00:10:26 03/28/15 A Lopez deputy was dispatched to conduct a welfare check on a possible suicidal male subject. The male subject was determined not to be an imminent threat to himself.

15-001481 Accident-NonInj 07:56:02 03/28/15 A deputy responded to a traffic collision that occurred on Terrill Beach Road, near Mount Baker Road. It was determined that the collision involved a pickup truck going off the roadway. The driver was not injured and stated he had swerved to miss a deer.

15-001482 Court Order Violation 08:50:35 03/28/15 A victim contacted the Sheriff’s Office in reference to an Order Violation. The victim claimed that her husband contacted her in violation of a DV Protection Order. Victim will provide a written statement after work. The suspect was contacted. The suspect claimed that he did not have any contact.

15-001483 Suspicious Person/Circumstance 09:32:32 03/28/15 The reporting deputy responded to a Suspicious Circumstance in the Portland Faire area. The reporting deputy contacted the party. The party was found to be OK and the reporting deputy cleared.

15-001487 Accident-HitRun 12:56:07 03/28/15 A deputy responded to a reported hit & run traffic collision in Eastsound. Further investigation revealed a white Jeep SUV had backed into a parked vehicle and left the area. The vehicle was not identified or located.

15-001491 Theft 16:40:32 03/28/15 A teenage male attempted to shoplift an item from the Mosquito Fleet store. He and the car he left in were observed. The suspect friends were contacted in an attempt to locate him. During this period he returned to the store and gave the item back. He was taken into custody and processed for Theft.

15-001494 Civil Problem 19:45:00 03/28/15 Deputy responded to settle an unwanted contact between family members. (Juvenile involved)

15-001496 Trespassing 21:34:20 03/28/15 A Lopez deputy was dispatched to a reported trespassing incident. A middle aged male subject allegedly stuck his head through an open window and asked if he could stay the night. The male subject was gone on the deputy’s arrival.

15-001501 Theft 12:25:33 03/29/15 A Lopez deputy discovered the theft of a county road sign along Mackaye Harbor Rd. The post had been pulled out of the ground and the sign removed.

15-001508 Unwanted Person 19:50:39 03/29/15 A SJC Sheriff Deputy responded to a report of an unwanted person in Eastsound. Further investigation revealed there was probable cause to arrest the white male suspect for Criminal Trespass after he refused to leave the establishment. The suspect was uncooperative during processing.

15-001517 Accident-Non-Injury 10:55:39 03/30/15 A Lopez Island man and his dog escaped injury in a single vehicle crash on Bayshore Rd along Griffin Bay. The man said he was startled when his dog jumped into his lap as he was trying to negotiate a curve, resulting in the vehicle driving off the road and onto the beach.

15-001519 Sick or Injured Animal 13:01:41 03/30/15 A Lopez woman reported dogs that sounded in distress at a nearby residence. The dogs’ owner was contacted. The dogs were in good health and safe.

15-001520 Accident-Injury, Traffic 14:22:09 03/30/15 A 36 year old Lopez Island man was killed in a single car motor vehicle crash on Islandale Rd, Lopez Island. The vehicle was travelling eastbound at a high rate of speed when it left the roadway, striking several trees and then rolling over, coming to rest on its top.

15-001526 Traffic Stop 19:09:18 03/30/15 A Deputy conducted a traffic stop on West Beach Road, Eastsound. Further investigation revealed the driver of the vehicle had a suspended license; she was cited and released. Also it was found that a passenger in the vehicle had a local warrant; he was arrested.

15-001536 Trespassing 05:30:00 03/31/15 A Lopez Island man heard someone moving around in his house in the wee hours of the morning, and heard them running through the woods moments later. Things were out of place in the house, but nothing was missing.

15-001535 Communications Problem 11:53:00 03/31/15 Reprting Party is delusional and believes the satellite, cell phone and radio waves from the nearby residences are causing her headaches. States she believes someone is monitoring her telephones and computer.

15-001530 Attempted Suicide 13:46:57 03/31/15 A deputy responded to a report of male subject who texted a message that appeared suicidal. The subject left in a vehicle and was not located. Further investigation revealed that the male subject was not in immediate danger of harming himself.

15-001540 Welfare Check 16:44:29 03/31/15 Deputy responded to a possible suicide attempt by a 15 year old. Upon arrival the juvenile’s mother, was present and said she was all right. I told the mother I needed to confirm that she was all right by seeing her. She went inside and brought the juvenile out to see me.

15-001544 Welfare Check 21:30:38 03/31/15 A Deputy conducted a welfare check on Lopez Island, It was determined, with assistance from a Mental Health Professional, that although the individual was upset over a recent family dispute, she was not an immediate threat to herself.

15-001546 Citizen Assist 08:28:09 04/01/15 A Lopez Island woman was concerned about child custody issues. Information was provided regarding resources to seek out for advice and assistance. Civil matter only at this point.

15-001558 Malicious Mischief 14:37:11 04/01/15 A Deputy received a report of a malicious mischief that occurred in the 300 block of Browne St. The victim reported that the back window of his truck had been broken out. Currently there are no suspects.

15-001559 Court Order Violation 14:59:57 04/01/15 A Deputy was contacted by an officer of the Court and told he believed a male subject on Lopez Island had violated a DV Protection Order by having contact with a woman at the San Juan County Court House. The parties had left.

15-001586 Vehicle Theft 11:42:37 04/03/15 An unknown suspect stole a gold 94 Honda Accord (license #AMY5301) from a parking space located on Guard St. directly across from the high school parking lot. The vehicle contained the victims wallet, car keys and a laptop.

15-001593 Fraud 16:54:54 04/03/15 A San Juan County Deputy met with a Lopez Island resident regarding a fraud complaint. She alleged a former employee withheld money from her paycheck and intentionally failed to deposit it into her IRA account. The investigation continues.

15-001600 Threats 20:22:37 04/03/15 A San Juan County Deputy responded to the 600 block of Channel Road  after a mother called to report that a man with an ax threatened her two juvenile sons and their two friends. It was determined that no crime had occurred; all involved persons agreed to avoid future contact with each other.

15-001605 Trespassing 12:08:50 04/04/15 A Lopez deputy was dispatched to the Lopez Golf Course for a reported trespassing incident. Evidence suggested someone had entered through a window, but nothing was reported missing.

15-001614 Attempted Suicide 20:49:56 04/04/15 Deputy was dispatched in regards to a suicidal subject. I responded along with support from OIFR. The subject was flown off for an evaluation with her permission. The children were placed with family.

15-001616 Theft 22:51:45 04/04/15 A Lopez Island deputy discovered road signs had been vandalized and stolen.

15-001620 Theft 08:13:13 04/05/15 An unlocked bicycle was stolen from an apartment complex in Eastsound, the suspect is known.

15-001622 Theft 09:45:16 04/05/15 A local business owner reported theft of his business credit card. The card was used in multiple businesses in Friday Harbor. The suspect was identified.

15-001625 Suspicious Person/Circumstance 14:20:01 04/05/15 A Deputy received a report of a suspicious person on Navigator Ln. The person was contacted who said that he had run out of gas in his vehicle. The Deputy assisted the person with making a phone call so that someone could come help him.

15-001630 Found Property 18:08:05 04/05/15 Complainant reported a child sized Quickie GP wheelchair left in the roadway near Jacksons Beach. Complainant attempted to transport the wheelchair to the Sheriffs but was unable to fit it in his car. He reported it to the Sheriffs Office and we picked it up a short time later.

15-001636 Unwanted Person 09:40:40 04/06/15 A Lopez deputy was dispatched to an unwanted person call. The suspect was gone on arrival. Upon interviewing both involved parties, it was determined to be a civil dispute with no probable cause for a crime.

15-001639 Citizen Dispute 11:45:01 04/06/15 A deputy spoke to the complainant, who is a landlord and having an issue with a tenant in Eastsound. I determined this is a civil issue.

15-001651 Accident-Injury, Traffic 15:54:33 04/06/15 Lopez deputies were dispatched to a collision at Center Rd and Hummel Lake Rd. No injuries, but reportable damage to both vehicles. Insurance information was exchanged, and parties departed the scene.

15-001653 Threats 16:20:27 04/06/15 A Lopez Island woman reported being threatened by a group of people when she dropped a friend off at a neighboring house.

15-001655 Traffic Violation 22:13:58 04/06/15 An off duty SJC Sheriff Deputy saw a white male known to have a suspended drivers license driving a vehicle in the 800 block of Enchanted Forest Road, Eastsound. The deputy forwarded a criminal citation to the courts to be processed.

15-001661 Theft 10:12:51 04/07/15 A San Juan County Deputy spoke with a Public Works employee regarding several missing road signs on Lopez Island, WA. The estimated
replacement cost for the signs is $1,600.00.

15-001666 Threats 16:08:00 04/07/15 A Lopez Island man reported that another man walked into his bedroom and demanded he move his car immediately, and made threats if he did not comply.

15-001678 Traffic Stop 23:00:27 04/07/15 Driver stopped on Park Street for no Tail Lights and found to not have a valid operators license.

15-001681 Malicious Mischief 10:19:43 04/08/15 A deputy called the reporting person of a maliciouis mischief case that occurred sometime last night in the 4300 block of Deer Harbor Road. No known loss and no suspects at this time.

15-001682 Found Property 13:05:52 04/08/15 A wallet belonging to an Eastsound man was found at the Lopez Islander Resort.

15-001689 Trespassing 19:58:07 04/08/15 A Lopez Island deputy was called to a noise complaint after a brief confrontation between the person responsible for the loud music and an unhappy neighbor. Both parties were counseled on appropriate ways to resolve their differences. No enforcement action was taken.

15-001692 Accident-HitRun 21:55:50 04/08/15 Deputies responded to a hit & run traffic accident at Jensen’s shipyard. The driver was located a short time later and arrested for Hit and Run and driving while under the influence of Intoxicating liquor.

15-001694 Suspicious Person/Circumstance 22:36:09 04/08/15 A vehicle was left in the 10 block of Bartell Road Eastsound, a narrow, two lane road with no shoulder creating a traffic hazard. Units on scene waited for over an hour for the owner to return. No phone numbers available to contact the registered owner. The vehicle was towed per SJC policy.
