Deputies investigated firearm noise during hours of darkness on Orcas Island. The responsible property owner was contacted and educated about the County Code, which permits the discharge of firearms on private property when due caution is used, and between the hours of dawn and dusk.

A Lopez Island Deputy was sent to euthanize a deer that had been hit by a car on Fisherman Bay Rd.

A Lopez Island Deputy was contacted by a Mount Vernon man about a stolen vehicle, who believed the vehicle may be somewhere on Lopez Island.

A San Juan Deputy responded to a report of vandalism in Friday Harbor. At this time, there are no workable leads and a report was made.

A mariner reported the theft of flotation device compressed air canisters while his dinghy was tied to an Eastsound dock.

A Deputy on Orcas Island was dispatched to trespassing complaint in Eastsound. A report was filed and a trespass warning letter was issued.

Deputies on Orcas Island were dispatched to call of domestic violence incident involving firearms in Eastsound. The suspect was arrested and booked into the San Juan County Jail.

A Deputy was dispatched to a Suspicious Circumstance in the Friday Harbor area. The reporting Deputy arrived and contacted a person sleeping on the sidewalk. The person was found to be in violation of release conditions. Report taken.

Deputies found an amount of US Currency in Friday Harbor. The Sheriff’s Office will keep the cash until it is claimed by the owner.

A Lopez Island Deputy was called about a subject experiencing mental health episodes with increasing frequency. Upon learning the circumstances that exist, information was provided on referral to medical/mental health and social service resources.

San Juan Deputies responded to the jail for an incident. The subject was arrested for assault 3rd degree, felony harassment, intimidating a public servant and obstructing a law enforcement officer.

A Lopez Deputy and Lopez EMS responded to the death of a local resident.
20-005539 Traffic Hazard 22:25:05 07/11/20
Deputies discovered a traffic hazard on San Juan Island. A vehicle was parked in a roadway, blocking traffic. No persons were in the area to claim responsibility. The vehicle was impounded by the Sheriff’s Office.

An Orcas Island Deputy conducted an area check at the West Sound County Dock. At about 2315 hours there was a vessel located at the dock which had been issued numerous infractions for unlawful overnight moorage before. The Deputy issued the vessel an infraction.

A Lopez Island Deputy was called about a dog trespassing on private property. The property owner was able to identify the dog’s owner and resolved the matter before the Deputy arrived.
20-005563 Vehicle on Fire 14:39:17 07/12/20
A Lopez Island Deputy responded to assist Lopez Island Fire and EMS with a boat fire aboard a twin masted sailboat tied to a float out in Fisherman Bay. No one was injured in the fire. The boat remained afloat and no environmental damage was noted. USCG was notified of incident by fire officials.

Deputies on Orcas Island responded to a report of a vehicle in the ditch. Relatives of the owner were able to recover the vehicle, which appeared to have suffered little or no damage.

Deputies on San Juan Island assisted a subject court-ordered to check in to the Sheriff’s Office. A report was taken.

A Lopez Island Deputy was called for a death investigation. A local resident passed away from apparent natural causes at home.
20-005597 Fall BLS 08:43:24 07/13/20
A Lopez Island Deputy was sent to check on a “trouble unknown” 911 call. Dispatch was quickly able to determine it was a medical incident and sent EMS. The law enforcement response was canceled.

A Lopez Island Deputy was sent to check on a flock of sheep creating a traffic hazard as they were reportedly out in the road. No sheep were found in the area.

A Lopez Island Deputy was called to assist a driver who had attempted to pull off the road to use the cell phone and ended up high centered in an unexpectedly deep ditch. Good Samaritans were able to extricate the car and send the party on their way unscathed.

A Lopez Island Deputy was called to check on dogs that had been barking for hours. The dogs were physically fine. A note was left for the owners.

A found credit card was turned in at the Lopez Island substation. The issuing bank was notified, who directed the Deputy to destroy the card. The bank will reissue a new card.
20-005642 Animal Noise 10:21:17 07/14/20
An Orcas Deputy was dispatched to an animal problem. The caller advised that there was a dog in distress on the beach. After a diligent search the dog was located by an island resident, trapped between large rocks. Many volunteers and community members came together and were able to rescue the dog.

A San Juan Deputy arrested a male for violating a DV no contact order who was parked at Linde Park. The male was later transported and booked into jail to await his arraignment.
