A Deputy responded to a report of one dog and two puppies loose in the road in Friday Harbor. The dogs were picked up, an owner was unable to be located, and the dogs were taken to the animal protection society shelter.

A Lopez Island resident discovered a small quantity of oil deposited on his property and two locations downstream. A report was taken by a Deputy of the suspicious activity.

An Orcas Island Deputy investigated a non-injury collision on the 800 block of North Beach Rd. A report was authored.

San Juan Deputies responded to a report of a domestic. No crime was committed and the incident was documented.

A confused mainland citizen called the Sheriff’s office after they arrived on Lopez Island and discovered they did not have cell service for map navigation. A Deputy assisted the citizen in finding their destination.

A San Juan Deputy responded to a report of a political sign theft. The incident was documented.

A San Juan Deputy responded to a report of a found leg brace and shoe in Egg Lake. The property was entered into evidence for safekeeping.

An Orcas Island Deputy took a report of stolen license plates.

22-000477 Child Abuse or Neglect 17:29:55 01/20/22
A Deputy on San Juan Island responded to a report of child abuse. Initial contacts were made by the Deputy and the investigation is ongoing.

22-000478 Domestic Dispute or Assault 17:34:29 01/20/22
Deputies on Orcas Island responded to a domestic incident. No crime had been committed. One of the involved parties left the residence.

22-000485 Assault – Aggravated 22:25:55 01/20/22
A Deputy on San Juan Island responded to a report of a domestic violence incident. A male subject attacked their girlfriend with a hatchet while violating a court order for protection from a previous incident. The suspect was arrested for Assault 1st, felony order violation and obstructing.

FRIDAY, JANUARY 21
22-000486 Vehicle Prowl 03:15:21 01/21/22
A Deputy on San Juan Island responded to a report of a vehicle prowl. The suspect was located and having a mental health crisis. The vehicle owner did not want to pursue criminal action. The suspect refused help and ran away. Due to HB 1310 Deputies were unable to detain the subject for treatment.

A Deputy on San Juan Island responded to a report of a prowler on a boat. The boat owners were awakened by an individual having a mental health crisis on their boat. The subject refused to seek the help they needed and due to HB 1310 Deputies were unable to detain the subject for treatment.

A San Juan Deputy was dispatched to a trespasser on a ferry. The involved person was suffering from a mental health crisis and was taken to the hospital for voluntary treatment.

22-000502 Sex Offense 16:31:19 01/21/22
A San Juan Deputy responded to a reported sex offense. The reporting party stated that a neighbor attempted to lure their child into their residence. After investigating the incident, the Deputy’s report was sent to the Prosecutor’s Office for a charging decision for the crime of luring.

A Deputy on San Juan Island took a cold report of suspicious activity via cell phone text messages. The messages appeared to be a scam. The Deputy was unable to get a hold of the victim for follow up.

A Deputy was dispatched to a Communication call in the Friday Harbor area. The Deputy contacted the caller and discovered the incident was related to a previously reported incident. Evidence was taken and a report was taken.

An Orcas Deputy responded to a suspicious circumstance at a residence in Eastsound. An investigation was completed and report taken.

MONDAY, JANUARY 24
22-000545 Wanted Person 09:16:19 01/24/22
A Deputy observed a person with an active warrant in the Friday Harbor area. The person was contacted and taken into custody on the warrant. The person was booked into jail. Report taken.

22-000546 Citizen Assist 10:03:11 01/24/22
A Deputy on Lopez contacted a citizen who was requesting information about keeping their elderly parent from purchasing firearms.

22-000548 Wanted Person 10:41:05 01/24/22
A Deputy arrested a person on an active felony warrant issued out of San Juan County Superior Court. The person was booked into jail without incident awaiting a hearing. Report made.

TUESDAY, JANUARY 25
22-000568 Citizen Assist 06:06:22 01/25/22
A Deputy responded to a Citizen Assist call on San Juan Island. After an investigation, a report & probable cause statement were generated and referred to the prosecutor’s office.

22-000570 Malicious Mischief 07:05:58 01/25/22
Vandals flattened several tires on school buses parked at Lopez Island School during the night. The incident is under investigation and a report was taken.

22-000579 Accident-NonInj 12:43:03 01/25/22
A Deputy was dispatched to a Single Vehicle Traffic Accident in the San Juan Island area. One vehicle had driven off the roadway. The driver was contacted and issued several infractions. Report taken.

22-000585 Trespassing 14:55:17 01/25/22
An Orcas Deputy responded to a trespass complaint in Eastsound. The suspect was not on scene. Investigation continues.
