Orcas Deputies responded to a domestic. After an investigation was completed the suspect was found, arrested and taken to Friday Harbor.

A Deputy on Orcas Island responded to a fraud complaint. The complainant had been tricked into mailing $5,000.00 cash to someone claiming to be an employee of PayPal.

THURSDAY, DECEMBER 28
23-009756 Accident-HitRun 14:25:46 12/28/23
A San Juan Deputy took a report of a hit-and-run collision. The reporting party advised that a vehicle contacted theirs while at South Beach – minimal damage occurred. No identifying information was available for the other party.

23-009758 Theft 15:07:32 12/28/23
A San Juan Deputy took a report of theft. No suspect information was available, and no leads are likely.

FRIDAY DECEMBER 29
23-009766 Mental Health 00:40:18 12/29/23
Deputies responded to a mental health crisis in which someone was claiming they needed mental health assistance. Upon arrival, the subject opted to voluntarily go to the hospital. Transport was arranged to Peace Island Peace Health Hospital in Friday Harbor.

A San Juan Deputy responded to a request for a welfare check. The person advised they were fine and refused offers of assistance.

A Lopez resident requested assistance releasing an angry raccoon from a live trap. They were referred to Wolf Hollow.

A Deputy was dispatched to a Welfare Check in the Friday Harbor area. The person was requesting a check of a minor child visiting with their ex-spouse. The child was contacted and there was no problem. Report taken.

San Juan Deputies responded to a report of an unresponsive person. The person was found to be deceased. A report was completed and the family was notified.

Lopez Island Deputies were dispatched to a residential burglary. The incident was documented.

23-009803 Missing Person 09:30:07 12/31/23
A Deputy was contacted about a Missing Person. The person was reporting an adult family member had left the residence in a vehicle. Vehicle was located but the person was not with the vehicle. Report taken.

A Deputy on Orcas Island received a lost property complaint.

A Friday Harbor male went to the residence of his estranged wife, violating a domestic violence protection order. The suspect left the area prior to the arrival of law enforcement and has not been located at the time of this report. The case is being referred to the PA’s office.

Someone abandoned a vehicle on Douglas Rd partially blocking a lane of travel. The vehicle was impounded and the incident was documented.

A Deputy on Orcas Island responded to a domestic incident. No crime had been committed. A report was authored.

A Deputy on San Juan responded to an individuals report of a suspicious bicycle on the side of the road. The bicycle did not appear to be in a condition to be ridden and also appeared to have been abandoned on the side of the road. The bicycle was collected as found property. A report was completed.

A Deputy on Orcas responded to an order violation callback. A report was taken.

TUESDAY, JANUARY 2
24-000037 Theft 12:43:17 01/02/24
A Lopez Island Deputy was dispatched to a theft of a parcel from a mailbox that had occurred the week prior. An uptick in package thefts from mailboxes on the island has been noticed. Residents should be diligent about collecting their mail regularly and reporting suspicions activity.

24-000044 Harassment 20:20:53 01/02/24
A Deputy on San Juan Island responded to a report of harassment/trespassing. After speaking with the involved parties, it was decided by an involved party that they would seek a no-contact order, rather than have the individual arrested for trespassing. A report was completed.
