22-008978 Information Report 15:30:37 12/21/22
Orcas Island Deputies responded to a disturbance call on the 100 block of Discovery Way. All parties were contacted and interviewed. It was later determined no crime had been committed and an incident report was authored.
22-008984 DUI 21:10:30 12/21/22
An Orcas Island Deputy responded to the area of Orcas Rd. and Cove Rd. for solo vehicle traffic accident. An investigation was conducted, and the driver of the vehicle was arrested for driving under the influence.
22-008985 Trespassing 21:15:29 12/21/22
A San Juan Deputy responded to a report of trespassing. One individual was arrested for criminal trespass first degree and was booked into jail.

An Orcas Island Deputy responded to the Doe Bay Resort for an allegation of an assault between employees. All parties were contacted, and an investigation conducted. It was determined no crime was committed and the assault allegation was unfounded.
FRIDAY, DECEMBER 23
22-009014 Accident-HitRun 08:44:18 12/23/22
A Deputy was dispatched to a Hit and Run Unattended in the Friday Harbor area. The person reporting the incident did not know exactly when the incident occurred. An informational report taken.
22-009017 Mental Health 10:28:50 12/23/22
A Deputy was dispatched to a Prisoner Issue at the Sheriff’s Office. The inmate was contacted and transferred to the security cell for their safety. Informational report taken.
22-009020 Boating Problem 12:45:55 12/23/22
An Orcas Deputy checked on a vessel at the Obstruction Pass County Dock that has been abandoned for several months. This is an ongoing problem and efforts have been made to get it removed.
22-009024 Traffic Violation 14:03:57 12/23/22
A San Juan Deputy stopped a driver for expired tabs. The driver advised they “had better things to do” than renew them. Their insurance was expired; they demanded a ticket rather than “sit here dealing with you.” They received a ticket for expired insurance and a warning for expired registration.

A Lopez Deputy assisted a stranded motorist.
22-009044 Assault – Body Force 14:21:58 12/24/22
San Juan Deputies responded to a jail issue. An in-custody person covered the security camera and door window with an unknown brown substance. During the cleaning process, the person spit on one Deputy and punched another in the face. Probable cause for Assault 3 x2 was forwarded to the PA’s office.
22-009047 Attempted Suicide 15:44:30 12/24/22
San Juan Deputies responded to assist with a suicide attempt. Deputies assisted with first aid until EMS arrived and took over patient care. The involved person was transported from the scene by EMS.

A Deputy on San Juan Island responded to a two vehicle collision. The at fault driver was issued an infraction for no insurance. The collision did not meet the criteria to be reportable by the state.
SUNDAY, DECEMBER 25
22-009064 DUI 17:31:49 12/25/22
A Deputy on San Juan Island responded to report of a DUI. The driver was located at residence know to them, but the homeowner was not home at the time. The Deputy later spoke with the homeowner and they did not wish to pursue trespassing charges. A report was completed.
MONDAY, DECEMBER 26
22-009075 Welfare Check 09:33:52 12/26/22
Deputies on San Juan Island responded to a welfare check, the individual was entered as a missing person at the request of family. Deputies searched for the individual the next day and was located deceased. The coroner responded and determined the cause of death to be accidental in nature.
22-009083 DUI 13:04:03 12/26/22
Deputies on Orcas Island responded to a report of a possibly intoxicated driver. The driver was located at his home. There was insufficient evidence of Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicating Liquor and/or drugs.

A Deputy on San Juan Island responded to a report of an order violation. After speaking with the protected party and reviewing the order, it appeared as though no violation occurred. The Deputy suggested the person have the order amended to have more specific information. A report as completed.

A Deputy on Lopez Island was dispatched to a report of a domestic disturbance. The event turned out to be verbal only and the parties volunteered to separate for the night.

A Deputy on San Juan Island responded to a report of a citizen assist. This was an ongoing neighbor dispute about off leash dogs and property line vs public roadway use. Both parties were advised about civil remedies.
