A citizen on Lopez reported his cell phone missing after dropping it along the roadway. He located the phone through an app, and a Deputy was able to recover it from a bicyclist who picked it up with intent to turn it in.

A Deputy received a fraud complaint from a Lopez Island resident. The victim was scammed out of money after receiving a telephone call from a person claiming to work for Apple support. The scammer convinced him that he needed to release bank account information to remedy the problem.

A Lopez Island Deputy was called to take a report of graffiti applied to a building. The vandalism was photographed and arrangements made for removal.

A Deputy on San Juan responded to a trespass complaint. The subject refused to leave and was arrested for trespassing and obstructing a law enforcement officer.

Orcas Island and San Juan Deputies responded with USCG and DHS to a suspicious call. It was reported that a black duffel bag was dropped from a low flying aircraft to a waiting boat. After an investigation it was determined the bag contained ice cream. The ice cream was not shared with the responders.

A Deputy on Orcas Island received a report of car window smashed in Eastsound. No suspect information of workable leads. A report was filed.

Deputies on Orcas Island received a complaint of domestic violence in Eastsound. No offense had occurred. An information report was filed.

A Deputy was contacted in reference to a Theft in the San Juan Island area. The caller reported some fishing gear had been taken. Patrol boat dispatched to the area to assist. No suspects or workable leads at this time. Report taken.

A Lopez Island Deputy was called regarding a flock of sheep that had escaped from their pasture to go tour the neighborhood. The owner was notified and reclaimed the wandering flock.

An Orcas Island Deputy responded to a trespassing call. A report was taken.

20-007129 Sick or Injured Animal 10:46:34 08/24/20

A concerned citizen called about a raccoon running in circles on a Lopez Island road and acting strange. The raccoon was gone when the Deputy arrived.

20-007132 Burn Investigation 12:34:22 08/24/20
A Lopez Island Deputy observed an illegal burn and contacted the property owner on scene to immediately extinguish the burning pile of yard debris.

20-007138 Theft 13:41:33 08/24/20
A Deputy on Orcas was dispatched to a theft call in Eastsound. Information was gathered and a report was taken. No suspects at this time.

20-007142 Trespassing 15:56:04 08/24/20
A Deputy was contacted in reference to a Trespass in the Friday Harbor area. The caller was requesting Trespass Warning Letters for two properties. The letters were prepared and signed to be served. Report taken.

20-007160 Malicious Mischief 08:58:45 08/25/20

A San Juan Deputy was dispatched to a report of vandalism on Coho Drive. A trespass letter was issued.

20-007164 Traffic Hazard 12:52:10 08/25/20
A Lopez Island Deputy assisted with traffic control after the air brakes locked up on a trailer and would not release partially blocking a road. The problem was resolved after a mechanic arrived and was able to rectify the problem, allowing the trailer to be moved off the roadway.

A Lopez Island Deputy was notified of sheep running at large. The owner was contacted to retrieve and secure the sheep in their pasture.

20-007175 Agency Assistance 15:59:36 08/25/20
A Deputy responded to an assistance request by WA State Park Rangers in Moran State Park. It was reported a trespasser had made entry into a closed and locked building and was driving away. Contact was made and the persons involved were identified. State Parks will decide the legal outcome.
