A Deputy on Orcas Island responded to a dog-at-large complaint. The owner had recently installed an electronic fence. The Deputy opted to issue a warning in lieu of an infraction.
23-006630 Assault – Body Force 14:11:53 08/16/23
A Deputy on San Juan Island received a report of an assault that occurred at the fairgrounds. The investigation showed that there was no probable cause for arrest but the suspect was removed from the grounds by their employer.

San Juan Island Deputies were dispatched to the Fairgrounds for an Order Violation. It was determined that the order was not violated. The incident was documented.

An Orcas Island Deputy assisted the Loudon County Sheriff’s Office in Tennessee with a fraud investigation. Money was recovered during a fraud investigation and returned to the victim who is an Orcas Island resident.

A Lopez Deputy responded to a theft call. A Lopez individual reported that a wallet was stolen out of their vehicle, which was left unlocked at a park. A report was taken.

San Juan Deputies were dispatched to Roche Harbor for an Unwanted Person Call. The individual was arrested for Harassment and the incident was documented.

San Juan Deputies responded to a report of a domestic. A male was arrested for assault in the second degree – DV. He was booked into jail and the victim was transported to the hospital for medical treatment.

A Lopez Deputy completed a report to document another incident in a long running landlord / tenant dispute.

The Sheriff’s Office responded to a deceased person in the water off Center Island. The unknown subject was recovered and the case is currently under investigation.

An Orcas Island Deputy responded to Snowberry Ln. for an Agency Assist call of a U-Haul truck that was reported stolen. An investigation was conducted, the truck was recovered and returned to U-Haul. No crime was committed.

A Lopez Deputy responded when a sheep wandered onto Center Road. The Deputy encouraged the sheep to go home by waving his arms around.

Lopez EMS and Deputies responded when an intoxicated passenger fell out of a vehicle, hurting her head. EMS administered care and the individual was airlifted to a hospital.

Deputies on San Juan Island responded to a report of an intoxicated female about to drive a vehicle with children inside. The female was ultimately issued a criminal citation for operating a vehicle without an ignition interlock device. A report was completed.

A Deputy on San Juan Island was dispatched to a report of a motor vehicle accident. No injuries were reported and two vehicles were towed from the scene.

A Deputy was dispatched to a Domestic in the San Juan Island area. The Deputy arrived and contacted the people involved. One of the people was in a mental health crisis. The Deputy was able to calm the

An Orcas Island Deputy was dispatched to a local business for a reported lost and disoriented individual. The subjects spouse was contacted and he was returned home without incident.

An Orcas Island Deputy was dispatched to an animal problem. A report was taken.

A juvenile was reported to have brandished a knife at the San Juan County Fair. Their parent was located; they said they would bring the juvenile to the Sheriff’s booth. They did not do so. As the victims did not wish to pursue charges, the case was forwarded to Superior Court Services.

A Deputy on San Juan Island was dispatched to a report of vandalism on a motorcycle. A report was taken.
23-006762 Suspicious Person/Circumstance 23:49:59 08/19/23
A San Juan Deputy responded to a report of a vehicle stopped in the middle of the roadway. The Deputy arrived and observed two occupants slumped over with aluminum foil on the driver’s lap. The two were awoken and the driver was arrested for DUI – Drugs. They admitted to smoking fentanyl.

A Deputy was dispatched to an Abandoned Vehicle in the Friday Harbor area. The reporting Deputy located a single vehicle, partially parked in the roadway. Deputy was unable to locate the owner and vehicle was removed by Tow. Report taken.

A Lopez resident reported an animal problem. The Deputy will gather information from other neighbors as part of the investigation.

Deputies on San Juan Island responded to a report of a domestic incident in Friday Harbor. After talking with the involved parties, it was determined to be a dispute between two juvenile children. A report was completed.

A Deputy on San Juan Island was dispatched to collect property that had been left at the county fair. The property was booked into the evidence room.

A Deputy on San Juan Island responded to a report of a lost phone. The owner was able to track the phone to an approximate location. The Deputy was able to locate the phone and submitted it into evidence for safe keeping. A report was completed.

All units available on Orcas responded to a vehicle accident with fatalities. The investigation is ongoing.

Lopez Island Deputies were dispatched to a Vandalism Call. The investigation is ongoing, and the incident was documented.
23-006829 Kidnapping 12:15:20 08/22/23
The Sheriff’s Office received a report from an outside agency of a possible kidnapping suspect and victim in our area. The case was investigated and unfounded. A report was taken and provided to the other agency.

Lopez Island Deputies were dispatched to an Animal Bite. The incident was documented.
23-006837 Structure Fire 16:47:29 08/22/23
Lopez Deputies responded with Lopez Fire to a reported wildland fire. DNR dispatched a helicopter to assist. Arriving units located a fully involved structure fire, that was spreading into the nearby trees. The fire was extinguished without incident. The cause is still under investigation.
