22-002556 Civil Problem 10:55:22 04/27/22
Deputies served two temporary orders for protection to an individual on San Juan Island baring the person from his mother’s residence. Deputies explained the orders to the person being served, he gathered his belongings, and left the location without incident. Report made.

22-002560 Accident-Injury, Traffic 13:34:18 04/27/22
Deputies on San Juan Island responded to a single vehicle accident. The driver had mistaken the gas pedal for the brake pedal while parking and went halfway over a retaining wall. The driver was seen by EMS and taken to the hospital. A report was completed.

22-002569 Weapons Offense 19:09:15 04/27/22
A Lopez Island Deputy responded to a threats complaint on Pavey Blvd on after a resident reported that a neighbor scared him during a dispute. The reporting person stated his neighbor held up a hatchet and walked toward him. The matter is under investigation.

An Orcas Island Deputy investigated a Burglary to a business on the 5000 block of Deer Harbor Rd. The investigating Deputy located evidence of the crime on the 400 block of Cedar Hill Rd. A Search Warrant was authored, and the suspect arrested.

A Deputy responded to a report of a possible missing person on San Juan Island. The Deputy was able to quickly contact the alleged missing person and his wife and confirmed that he was safe and not missing. Both the Deputy & the person involved called the caller to advise them he was safe. Report made.

An Orcas Deputy to a report of a neighbors dog at large on the complainant’s property. This is an ongoing issue that the complainant wanted to know their options on how to handle the situation.

The Sergeant on San Juan Island located a person with one felony out of county arrest warrant and 2 misdemeanors out of county arrest warrants. The male was arrested and booked into jail without incident awaiting transport to the respective jurisdictions. Report completed.

An Orcas Island Deputy investigated a theft of utilities on the 40 block of Quarry Ln. OPALCO was contacted and a report authored.

A Deputy conducted a service of a protection order issued out of San Juan County District Court with a respondent who lives in Shoreline, WA. Per RCW 7.105.150 this order was served electronically via email and the return of service was completed and returned to the court. Report completed.

A San Juan Deputy responded to a report of a juvenile problem involving a juvenile that struck another with a stick multiple times. Both juvenile’s parents were contacted and the incident was documented.

A Lopez Deputy responded to the ferry terminal. A person who was behaving poorly was asked by ferry staff to leave. The person refused, locking themselves in their vehicle. The Deputy spoke with the person and convinced them to exit the vessel. WSDOT plans on trespassing the individual.

San Juan Deputies responded to a report of a DUI driver having crashed near South Beach. The driver was arrested for DUI and issued an infraction for wheels off roadway.

A Lopez Deputy responded to two animal at large incidents.

A person reported a solo 6 year old bike rider on Lopez. The child’s parent was nearby.

A Deputy on San Juan Island took a walk-in report of a found phone bag and iPhone, that had been left at Ace. The Deputy took custody of the items and submitted them into the evidence room as found property.

A found wallet was turned in at the Lopez station. The owner was located.

A Lopez Deputy was advised of a potentially hazardous tree over a road. A public works response was requested.

A San Juan Deputy responded to a report of a residential burglary. The Deputy checked for latent fingerprints and located a suspect nearby, who admitted to being inside the house and removing items. The victim did not want to pursue charges and an informational report was made.

A San Juan Deputy responded to a report of a fall. The Deputy assisted San Juan EMS and the patient was flown off island for care.

A Deputy on San Juan Island took a report from a citizen who stated that they were illegally recorded on the prairie. Interviews with involved parties were conducted and a report was completed.

A Deputy on San Juan Island spoke with a citizen who wanted to report that three mailboxes had been damaged and one was thrown into their yard. There is no suspect information or workable leads currently. A report was completed.

A Deputy was dispatched to a Traffic Accident in the San Juan Island area. The Deputy arrived and discovered one vehicle off the roadway. The Deputy spoke with the driver. The incident is being investigated as a DUI.

An Orcas Island Deputy was dispatched to a found property call. The items were collected and booked into the property room. A report was taken.

Orcas Island Deputies were dispatched to a reported verbal domestic in a vehicle at the Orcas Ferry Landing. The driver was arrested for theft of a motor vehicle, possession of a controlled substance, identity theft, and an out of county felony warrant. The vehicle was impounded and searched.

A Deputy on San Juan Island responded to a report of a parking problem. The Deputy placed abandoned vehicle stickers on two vehicles. The Deputy returned two days later to find that one car had moved, the second vehicle had another abandoned vehicle sticker placed on the window.

A Deputy on San Juan Island went with an in-custody individual to the hospital. The inmate was treated by hospital staff and was cleared to return to jail.

A San Juan Deputy responded to a report of a theft regarding ferry tickets being sold on Facebook. After multiple people sent the seller money via Venmo, communication was cut off and tickets were not received. The Deputy’s report was sent to the Prosecutor’s Office for a charging decision.

An Orcas Island Deputy was dispatched to an unwanted person call in the Eastsound area. A trespass warning letter was issued.

A Deputy on San Juan Island took a delayed report of a hit and run with property damage. There is currently no suspect information or workable leads. A report was completed.

22-002699 Accident-Injury, Traffic 15:02:51 05/03/22
Deputies on San Juan Island responded to a single vehicle accident. The vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed, the driver lost control and wrecked. Both vehicle occupants were taken to the hospital to be treated for injuries. An investigation is ongoing. A report was completed.

A Lopez Island resident turned in a friendly dog to a Lopez Island Deputy after the dog wandered on to her property on Aleck Bay Road. The dog owner was quickly located and was very happy to be reunited with his adventurous pooch.

A Deputy on Orcas Island collected some found property which was logged into the evidence room for safe-keeping.

A Deputy on San Juan Island responded to a report of a lost phone that was located inside of a locked vehicle. The vehicle owner came outside and returned the phone to the owner. The phone owner did not want to pursue charges. A report was completed.

San Juan Deputies responded to a report of a domestic in Friday Harbor. One person was arrested for assault in the fourth degree – DV and was booked into jail.

A Lopez Deputy responded to a fraud call. A San Juan citizen who was attempting to buy art online had their emails intercepted by a Russian scammer. A report was taken.

22-002712 Communications Problem 11:58:02 05/04/22
A Deputy responded to a report of a Communications problem in Friday Harbor. The caller reported receiving a call that she believed was a phone scam attempt. The message on the call claimed to be the “Fund Raising Center”. The caller gave out no information and suffered no loss. Report made.

A San Juan Deputy responded to a report of a package theft. There are no suspects or workable leads at this time and the theft was documented.

An Orcas Island Deputy arrested a subject for Trespassing on the 200 block of Slanted Apple Ln. The subject was booked into jail in Friday Harbor and a report forwarded to the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.

An Orcas Island Deputy was dispatched to an animal at large call. The dog was booked into the shelter. A report was taken.

A Lopez Deputy responded to a report of an oversized vessel in Eastsound. A report was taken.

A San Juan Deputy took a report of mail theft. A description of the stolen item was obtained and Deputies will keep a lookout for the stolen item. No suspect information exists at this time.

A Lopez Island Deputy investigated a theft complaint. The reporting person claimed they parked a fifth wheel trailer on a business owner’s property and that items were taken from the trailer without permission. The matter was determined to be a civil matter. A report was completed.

A Lopez Deputy responded to a citizen dispute. A cat died during cat fight. The owner of the deceased cat then shot and killed the other cat. The investigation is ongoing.

22-002745 Accident-NonInj 13:59:31 05/05/22
A San Juan Deputy responded to a non-injury collision. A driver was issued an infraction for failure to yield right of way and a collision report was completed.

22-002751 Fraud 16:24:37 05/05/22
A Deputy spoke with a Lopez Island resident regarding an on-line scam. The reporting person stated she received an e-mail from someone, claiming to be from Pay-pal, who claimed she owed money. Fortunately, she was suspicious and no money was lost. A report was completed.

22-002756 Domestic Dispute or Assault 22:29:27 05/05/22
Deputies responded to a Lopez Island residence for a possible domestic violence incident. The investigation revealed that two family members had a verbal argument and that no threats or physical assault had occurred. They agreed to separate for the evening and to seek counseling.
