A Deputy spoke with a Decatur Island resident on 08/23/17 regarding a dispute with a neighbor. No formal enforcement action was required. A report was completed.
17-005771 Harassment 13:21:20 08/23/17
A Deputy spoke with a Lopez Island visitor regarding a harassment complaint. She reported that a male made her feel uncomfortable when he repeatedly showed up at her work place and made unwanted advancements on her. The male was contacted and he agreed to cease and avoid her work places.

A Lopez Island couple reported that someone had attempted to scam them out of money in a telephone ruse indicating that their grandson was in jail and they needed to post his bail. No money changed hands, and checking further, their grandson was found at his jobsite.

I was dispatched to station 21 (45 Lavender Ln) for a theft call. A patient who had walked into the station for a bee sting reported to the EMS personnel that her wallet had been stolen. They recommended she call dispatch and have a report taken.

A Deputy in Friday Harbor received a report of a juvenile runaway. The juvenile was entered into the system as a runaway. The location of the juvenile is unknown at this time.

A Lopez Island deputy responded to a burglary after an island resident returned home to find things different around the house. The house was checked and no intruder remained inside. A report was taken.

A Lopez deputy located a wanted person with two local warrants at a boat ramp. The subject was taken into custody without incident.

A wanted person was seen in Friday Harbor. The subject was contacted, arrested and booked into jail, pending a court hearing.
17-005813 Accident-HitRun 15:11:44 08/24/17
A Friday Harbor truck driver was passing the library and an older blue Volvo station wagon pulled out and struck his right front wheel, damaging the bearings. The Volvo did not stop and headed north on Beaverton Valley Rd. The truck driver got a partial license plate of AW(Zor7)92?5. Investigation continue.

Deputies responded along with State Fish and Wildlife Police to a report of a boating accident with injuries in the area of Spencer Spit State Park. Victim was flown to the mainland for treatment and a boating accident report was taken.

A Lopez deputy took a theft complaint involving a ferry ticket exchange. An information report was taken.

An Orcas Deputy responded to a one car collision on Obstruction Pass Rd. Further investigation found that the driver was driving under the influence and the driver was arrested for DUI. Accident report and Incident report completed and case forwarded to the court.

A Deputy in Friday Harbor received a report of a person that was wanting to hurt themselves. The person was taken to the hospital for an evaluation.

A Friday Harbor citizen reported harassing texts from her ex-husband. She stated he had moved away, wanting nothing to do with her and their daughter, but was now sending threatening texts about taking the daughter. The victim just wanted it reported, pending an anti-harassment order.
17-005901 Area Check 13:19:31 08/27/17
SJC Deputies recognized a subject who was believed to have a felony warrant out of Mount Vernon WA in Eastsound. The male was contacted and was confirmed to be the subject. The male subject was arrested, transported and booked into jail in Friday Harbor.

A Lopez deputy was dispatched for vehicles left unattended in the ferry line. Infractions were issued.

A Deputy was contacted about a suspicious circumstance. It was reported that someone has been entering their home while they are gone during the week. This case is still under investigation.

A deputy was dispatched to an Attempted Suicide in the Friday Harbor area. The reporting deputy arrived and transported one to the hospital for evaluation.

A Friday Harbor resident reported theft of their bike some time the night before. The bike was left unlocked in town and was found missing this morning. There are no suspects at this time.

A Deputy responded to an office in Friday Harbor reference suspicious circumstances. Reporting party wanted to report the
smell of chemicals in the office.

A Lopez Island resident reported hearing rapid fire gunshots in the vicinity of the Lopez Hill Preserve. The shooter was located, safely target shooting on private property. No further action was taken.

A Lopez Island man was arrested for DUI after failing to negotiate a curve on Ferry Rd and crashing into the ditch. The driver, alone in the vehicle suffered minor injuries in the crash.

A Deputy responded to a Lopez Island residence for a suspicious circumstance complaint after two former friends had a dispute over a vehicle that was subsequently moved from one property to another’s property without permission. The land owner did not file a complaint. A report was completed.

A Lopez Island Deputy responded to a traffic hazard complaint in the 1300 block of Center Road. It was determined a trailer carrying a boat lost a wheel at a blind curve on the road. The trailer owner made repairs and removed the trailer. He was subsequently issued a ticket for faulty equipment.

A Lopez Island man was notified by another property owner that items belonging to him had been found hidden in a house being prepared for sale. The man had originally reported the items stolen in a burglary in 2013.

An Idaho couple reported that their car had been damaged in a Lopez Island parking lot. They provided possible suspect information. That subject was contacted and interviewed. No enforcement action was taken.
