— from Lance Evans —

Tonight is Night #1 of the Orcas Island Shakespeare Festival… Tickets at the Chamber & at the door! Give us a call at 376-2273 with questions.

The essence, the marrow, the pith of Shakespeare is all in the words on the page – black & white.

Without the visual distractions of sets, costumes, and staging, actors will perform formal readings from Shakespeare’s texts for the beauty of the language. Readers will include local names such as: Michael Armenia, Colleen Smith Armstrong, Cali Bagby, Doug Bechtel, April Duke, Lance Evans, Carolyn Fiscus, Tom Fiscus, Robert Hall, Sukima Hampton, Andy Martin, Frank Michaels, Donna Riordan, Lynda Sanders, Gillian Smith, Michele Griskey Watson, Kristen Wilson, Regina Zwilling.

They will be reading monologues and scenes from Hamlet, Richard III, Henry V, The Taming of the Shrew, Romeo and Juliet, Julius Caesar, Two Gentlemen of Verona, Henry IV, King Lear, Midsummer Night’s Dream and Macbeth. Ah, but who is reading what? Ay, there’s the rub! Come and find out.

This performance begins at 6:30 p.m. at Random Howse. Arrive early and have some food and drink. Dinner is served from 5 p.m.
