Islander Woody Ciskowski decided he wanted to be the Town Crier for the local Shakespeare Festival celebration. Melinda Milligan offered her theatrical talents as Lady Macbeth during that same event. It’s customary and natural for a Town Crier and Lady McBeth to be included in any Shakespeare Festival, right?
But the day was also Woody’s birthday, and Melinda had been the midwife at Woody’s birth 25 years ago.
Full of smiles, they paused, briefly, stepping out of their Shakespeare characters for a moment, to acknowledge the coincidence and pose for a picture, sharing with us one of those valuable “only on Orcas” moments.

How wonderful! I knew it was Woody’s birthday, but not that Melinda had brought him through! These two have other things in common as well, like the fact that they are talented performers, professional and a delight to work with and be around!
