The Orcas Island Senior Center has a new group that meets Tuesdays after lunch to sing.
Recently formed, the group of enthusiastic singers, conducted by Linda Tretheway, held their first public performance late last month, and they’re eager to perform for the public again and again.
“The Senior Songbirds love to sing, and it gets me higher than a kite,” says Tretheway, who is also the Coordinator for Senior Services at the Center.
The group sings a variety of show tunes and classics, from “Let Me Call You Sweetheart” to “They Tried to Tell Us We’re Too Young.”
The group may perform at the 4th of July celebrations if enough members are on the island. They hope to perform as a group at the next “Orcas Idol” competition.
The group can be contacted through Tretheway at 376-2677.
