Senior Center Advisory Committee

April is the time of year when the word “deduction” comes to mind and the Orcas Senior Center Advisory Committee offers these timely suggestions.

Every Tuesday in April, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., items can be dropped off at the Center for “Granny’s Attic.” This year, April 28 is the date to put on your calendar for that great spring rummage where everyone goes away happy with a bargain.

Your welcome contributions of items in good repair may include household needs, craft supplies, garden tools, antiques and “white elephants.”  A tax deduction form is available when you drop off.

Does a French Dip sandwich or a salmon burger sound appetizing? Why not join seniors for lunch on Tuesdays. Deduct a little time from a busy day, enjoy menus like these for $7 and see how staff, volunteers and neighbors make the Center hum.

Don’t leave without picking up an on-sale, half-price, “Orcas on the Go” coupon book. At $10, the 2011 coupons offer big deductions through May. Rug cleaning, tree pruning, new plants, Easter candy and compost: if any of these are on your list,  the book quickly pay for itself.

The Third Annual “Orcas on the Go” will be on sale in June. For businesses and sevices across the island, the coupon book has meant new customers, larger purchases and , free advertising.  For further information on becoming a 2012 participant, contact Milly Vetterlein (mvetr@centurytel.net).
