When the Orcas Island School District Board meets this afternoon at 5:30, their consent agenda will include approval of a number of new employees and co-curricular staff.

Cathy Ferran’s appointment as the full time Executive Assistant to the District Office, effective Feb 23, 2009, is on the consent agenda, as are the following coaches:

Scott Harris – Head Softball Coach (4th year stipend $2,697)

Jason Nichols – Asst. JV Softball Coach (6th year stipend $1,839)

Jim Passer – Volunteer Softball Coach

Bernard Sturring – Volunteer Softball Coach

Russ Harvey – Volunteer Softball Coach

Rachel Harvey – Volunteer Softball Coach

JoAnn Price – Volunteer Softball Coach

James Segault – Volunteer Baseball Coach

Charlie Nigretto-Volunteer Baseball Coach

Bobby Olmstead – Head Golf Coach (8th year stipend $2,820)

Justin Taylor-Assistant Golf Coach (1st year stipend $1,349)

Lance Evans – MS Girls Basketball Head Coach  (5th year stipend $1,594)

Dianna Hofmann  – MS Girls Basketball Volunteer Asst.

Rich Madan – MS Girls Basketball Volunteer Asst.

Also on the agenda are the Business Report by Ben Thomas, Business Manager for the OISD, which will involve an enrollment projection discussion, the Superintendent/Principal Report by Barbara Kline, a presentation by Fiona Norris of the San Juan Nature Institute, a report by Bob Connell on School Site Councils, and a report on the  Washington State School Directors’ Association (WSSDA) legislative conference.

Trevor Carlson, Senior Vice-President, Seattle Northwest Securities, has been invited to give a Bond Presentation, and the Board is slated to act on the organization of a Bond Committee, as discussed at last month’s school board meeting.

Action is also expected as the school’s Budget Advisory Committee (BAC) continues the discussion of budget development.

Policy matters are also on the agenda with the first reading of revisions to the following policies:

2190 Instruction: Highly Capable Programs (also review 2190P procedures)

4129 Community Relations: Family Involvement (also review 4129 procedures) – NEW

4130 Community Relations: Title 1 Parental Involvement
