Thanks to feedback from guests looking for more intimate adventure options, San Juan Island Whale & Wildlife Tours is partnering with Kruger Escapes to offer a new “Sails & Whales” package. The combined day-long excursion begins with a sail with Captain Karl Kruger and First Mate Jess Kruger aboard Kruger Escapes’ S/V Tomahawk, departing from Orcas Island, followed by a mid-day rendezvous with Captain Hobbes of San Juan Island Whale & Wildlife Tour’s M/V Natsilane. Guests have the option of a lunch stop on a non-ferry served island.
“People love the opportunity to experience the Salish Sea in a more personal way,” said Captain Hobbes. “Limiting our tours to six people allows for easier wildlife viewing and allows guests more personal attention. Now, with Kruger Escapes, we are able to share two distinct ways to engage with the natural wonders of the San Juans.”
Tomahawk, a 50-foot ex-racing vessel, offers guests the opportunity to experience performance yacht design at its best. Natsilane, a 30-foot Albin Fast Express Cruiser, can quickly and comfortably travel to prime whale and wildlife viewing locations.
“It’s important to us that our guests discover something new about both themselves and the world they live in,” said Captain Kruger. “We strive to provide each guest with an experience rich in adventure, nuance, environmental education, comfort, and great food. We are excited to partner with a whale watch tour operator who shares our ideals.”

I am finding this confusing– isn’t this really more an advertisement than a news article?
I hope this ad was paid for to help support the news….
Orca Killer Whales are news, BIG NEWS! A little known fact, is that “most” whale watch boat crews love these guys. At fuel being almost $5.00 a gallon, I’m clearly not in it for the money running 2 – 6 passengers around. I’m in it to educate people about these wonderful orcas that are hurtling towards extinction. Maybe as soon as 20-30 years! So Islanders that care, remember boats don’t kill the largest member of the dolphin family (orcas), we do! Be careful what you flush down the drain! Chemicals including surfactants (soap) that’s right shampoo falls in there, are killing our orcas and the oceans. The first two people that call me can come out for free, to see what we do here!
