Sunday, April 7, 1 – 2:30 p.m., Orcas Library
— from Samantha Graham for SAFE San Juans —
In honor of sexual assault awareness month, SAFE San Juans will be hosting Movement as Medicine: Healing Sexual Assault Through Yoga at the Orcas Library in the Community Room from 1 – 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 7.
This will be a free event open to all community members and will include a 30 minute facilitated community discussion and reflection regarding healing from trauma and holistic self care, followed by a 50 minute restorative yoga practice. This Gentle and Yin style practice focuses on slow, fluid, floor-based movements coupled with the breath.
Whether you’re new to yoga or a dedicated practitioner, recovering from injury, or interested in learning more about the mind-body connection, this trauma-informed gentle yoga class offers creative modifications and variations to support you on your physical, emotional, and spiritual journey. You’ll practice in a safe, supported environment, and will leave this workshop with new ways to express and engage with your physical, emotional, and mental health.
Space is limited. To sign up or for more information, contact SAFE San Juans at 360-376-5979. Extra mats are available but feel free to bring your own as well.
