Uproarious laughter! Where? NT Encore’s One Man, Two Guvnors returns to Orcas Center Saturday, September 17 at 7:30 pm. If you’ve not yet experienced great theatre streaming from London to Orcas Center this is your opportunity for a hilarious and entertaining evening performance viewed from the best seats in the house.

Olivier Award winning production, starring James Corden of The Late Late Show/Carpool Karaoke fame. Richard Bean’s English version of Goldoni’s classic Italian comedy has sex, food and money high on the agenda. The feel good hit play is directed by Nicholas Hytner and boasts to be one of the funniest productions in the National Theatre’s history.

Fired from his skiffle band, Francis Henshall becomes minder to Roscoe Crabbe, a small time East End hood, now in Brighton to collect £6,000 from his fiancée’s dad. But Roscoe is really his sister Rachel posing as her own dead brother, who’s been killed by her boyfriend Stanley Stubbers.

Holed up at The Cricketers’ Arms, the permanently ravenous Francis spots the chance of an extra meal ticket and takes a second job with one Stanley Stubbers, who is hiding from the police and waiting to be re-united with Rachel. To prevent discovery, Francis must keep his two guvnors apart. Simple.

Daily Telegraph calls this production “the feel good hit of the summer. An evening of riotous delight. I found myself physically incapable with laughter.” While The Times says, “A triumph of visual and verbal comedy. Slapstick, satire and gags galore: a classic comedy hilariously updated.” The play has been nominated for several Olivier Awards including Best Actor (James Corden who stars as Frances Henshall), Best New Play, Best Performance in a Supporting Role (Oliver Chris who plays Stanley Stubbers), Best Set Design, and Best Director (NT Artistic Director Nicholas Hytner).
