Festival Favorites Chee Yun and Andrew Staupe to Perform
Orcas Island Chamber Music Festival’s “Leaves of Gold” fundraising concert will take place at beautiful Rosario Resort, and will be performed twice – Saturday, October 15th at 7:00 pm and Sunday, October 16th at 2:00 pm. The historic Rosario Mansion’s Music Room is the perfect setting to enjoy the talents of charismatic violinist Chee-Yun and acclaimed pianist Andrew Staupe. This amazing duo performed at Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, DC last Fall, and we’re proud to announce that they will be together again on Orcas this Fall. They will perform Beethoven’s famous Kreutzer Sonata for Violin and Piano No. 9, as well as works from Bach, Elgar and Saint-Saens.
Chee-Yun is a Festival favorite, and her flawless technique and passionate, compelling artistry have captivated audiences on five continents. She performs regularly with the world’s foremost orchestras, including the London Philharmonic, Philadelphia Orchestra and the Toronto, Houston, Seattle, Pittsburgh and National Symphony Orchestras. Chee-Yun has toured with the San Francisco Symphony, the Hong Kong Philharmonic, Germany’s Braunschweig Orchestra, Japan’s NHK Symphony and many others.
Andrew Staupe has performed across the United States and extensively in Europe, performing in distinguished venues including the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Rachmaninov Hall in Moscow and the Ateneul Roman in Romania. Orcas concert-goers were first introduced to this gifted pianist during the 2010 Orcas Island Chamber Music Festival.
This event is hosted by Rosario Resort owners Jan and Jerry Barto. Cynthia and Sam Coleman are concert sponsors for both performances. Artists’ Sponsors are Carol Marcin and Tom Burg for Chee-Yun and Martha Farish and Joe Cohen, sponsoring Andrew Staupe.
