||| FROM TANJA WILLIAMSON for SAN JUAN COUNTY LAND BANK |||
The Agricultural Resource Committee (ARC) of San Juan County invites farmers, ranchers and value added producers to share questions, concerns and ideas related to agricultural economic viability, the local regulatory environment, need for research, desire for education opportunities and how we can work together to insure a robust farming future in our islands. This year the ARC will be joined by the following organizations who work to support agriculture in the county:
Each 1.5 hour listening session will consist of updates from the above organizations, a facilitated discussion and opportunity for written feedback. |

Help us answer these questions:
- What works well about San Juan County’s local food system?
- What specific challenges or barriers do you currently face that are regulatory in nature (county and state)?
- What specific challenges or barriers do you currently face concerning infrastructure (either on farm or community level)?
- What specific solutions or steps would help address the challenges you identified?
- What kinds of agriculture, business or value added education opportunities or workshops would you like to see offered in San Juan County?

Why must we keep evaluating this when alum Farm is doing such a fabulous job of taking care of this property? It is a requirement of the lease?
And shouldn’t the current caretakers at Lum Farm be included in the conversation?
Do I just not understand the “title” of this article? Nothing in the article mentions the Coffelt Farm or its lease …???
I am also confused by this.
Looks to me like someone did a “save as” and didn’t change the title of a former press release. Orcasonian — once an article is published is it possible to change the title (if the author requests, whomever wants to take responsibility!)
Sure ’nuff, Mandy. Send it on to me.
Lin- I don’t have any idea who wrote the article… I’ll see if I can send a link I’m the right direction with a request to change the title.
Mandy is exactly right, that’s what happened. Lin you should’ve received a correction request from SJC by now. Hopefully this headline can be changed, or else delete the story and repost with correct headline, please!
