— from the State House Democrats —
State Reps. Kristine Lytton, D-Anacortes, and Jeff Morris, D-Mount Vernon, praised the state transportation package released today [June 29], which will bring more than $42,000,000 to the district, with a heavy focus on ferry terminal and fleet operations.
“I want to thank House Transportation Chair Judy Clibborn for her leadership and doggedness in this effort,” said Rep. Lytton. “We’ve worked closely with her to ensure San Juan, Skagit, and Whatcom transportation projects are funded, including greatly improving our ferry and highway systems.”
“I’m pleased our work on the Transportation Committee has resulted in funding for a fourth 144-car ferry and increased dollars for maintenance at the Anacortes ferry terminal; finishing the Guemes Island trail connector; completing the Mackaye Harbor Road relocation and Orcas Village parking in San Juan County; replacing the Burlington SR99 rail overpass; and making the Northwest Avenue and Slater Road improvements,” Rep. Morris said. He noted $602 million was set aside for ferry and ferry-related operations and maintenance throughout the state’s ferry system.
