||| FROM THE OFFICE OF REP. RICK LARSEN |||
The stakes in this election are high and the choice is as clear as ever.
Democrats are delivering results for working families and upholding our shared values while the party of Trump is focused on undermining working families and dismantling the progress we have made as a nation.
I am proud of the accomplishments we have achieved. We lowered healthcare costs for seniors and ensured the government can negotiate lower prescription costs for families. We passed the PACT Act to ensure healthcare for veterans that were exposed to toxic burn pits. During the longest stretch of low unemployment, we delivered 15.8 million jobs by passing the largest investment in repairing and building the next generation of roads, bridges and highways. And we are the only party fighting to restore reproductive freedom in this country.
We are not done working for you. As a party we will continue to deliver results that count for your family and your pocketbook.
I laud President Biden’s vision and leadership. With him in the White House our agenda became a reality for the American people. I believe that we can build on these accomplishments and continue to deliver results that matter. We must continue to create an economy that works for everyone and understand that everyday Americans are struggling to make ends meet. We must protect reproductive freedom and continue to lower healthcare costs. And we must protect our democracy, our environment and our voting rights.
All of this is possible when we elect the Democratic ticket – from the White House to retaking the House majority and maintaining the majority in the Senate. With your help and your vote, together we can build on these victories and deliver for the American people.”

And your thoughts on our Vice President/potential President, Kamala Harris?
So, not endorsing Harris then?
Sadly Mr. Biden is clearly impaired and unfit to continue in office. He should resign immediately or be removed per the 25th amendment and the Vice President should assume the office.
In 2020 the American people elected her for that purpose, no need for discussion, handwringing or politicing.
Phil, Biden didn’t resign. He was persuaded not to run for a second term after all, due in part to his senior moments in a “debate” with Trump. I understand that the unite Republican message has been either “resign immediately” or “Democratic coup!,” but such concepts are propaganda and not consistent with our Constitution.
And why would you not wish Trump to run against someone younger and more vigorous, after all the complaints from the Right that Biden was incompetent (“can’t put two words together, etc.)? We all need to do everything we can to prevent Christian Nationalism and that Project 2025 from being imposed on our population, right?
What is “christian nationalism”?
Mr, Austin, please re-read my comment. The Vice President should assume the office. That would make her the 47th President with the advantages of incumbency. Hardly a negative.
Your political calculus is wrong. I commented in this forum before the 2020 election that Mr. Biden appeared to be cognitively impaired, based upon the sad and painful experience of navigating advanced senile dementia with a loved one.
My comment about his replacement has to do, once again, with “following the rules” i.e. the 25th Amendment that was designed specifically for this type of situation and has nothing to do with your fears, phobias and groundless paranoia that regards anything to the right of Karl Marx to be terrorism when in reality Marxists are responsible for over 100 million political murders during the last century alone!
I think someone needs to read the 25th Amendment carefully. It’s nit as simple as one thinks, thankfully.
It couldn’t be more simple and straightforward. Mr. Biden is impaired and the Vice President is the designated replacement. Resignation would be immediate, removal is more complex, but necessary. Under the 25th Amendment the Vice President has standing to act as the people’s watchdog. Has she done so?
But all of this begs the question; WHO IS IN CHARGE?
Is Mrs. Wilson guiding Woodrow’s hand? We’ve been here before and the 25th Amendment was intended to provide clarity, transparency and ,
assurance to the people, all of the people, that their government is functioning in accordance with the people’s will in accordance with the people’s Constitution..
Biden chose not to run for reelection because he was persuaded he couldn’t win the election, not because he can’t do the job. Please don’t just parrot pointless political smear tactics on this forum.
President Biden excelled at this unscripted press conference on foreign policy -except for one flub early on:
https://www.pbs.org/newshour/politics/watch-live-biden-holds-news-conference-after-nato-summit
“Early on, he made one notable flub when he bobbled a reference to Vice President Kamala Harris. But for an hour he largely held his own under intense questioning, eschewing any suggestion that he was in decline, no longer capable of leading the nation and too old to serve another term.”
He is competent as president, but not as a candidate, in my opinion.
Spirit Eagle,
You can Google Christian Nationalism.

Mr. Peterson, please forgive me: of course all of your opinions stated here are facts-of-the-matter, and–gosh–good to have someone available to correct my “groundless paranoia.” You clearly have studied philosophy deeply in order to form such enlightening opinions. Unless, of course, you received them from, say, Tucker Carlson. The mere fact that you yourself are able to determine the fitness of our President to remain in office due, presumably, to his increasing “senior moments” in recent months, though a bit harsh what with his 50 years experience in politics and deep knowledge of the inner workings of government, is certainly diagnostic, if not anodyne.
Want a relief ! ! !
Our highly partisan neighbors confirm that Joe Biden is “sharp as a tack” and his finger is on the nuclear trigger so we are all safe. This after a litany of verbal and physical failures for all to see – remember folks we live in a technological age when the audio-video record is there for all to see that records a steady decline, not a one-of.
Yesterday in a joint operation Russian and Chinese long range nuclear capable bombers approached Alaska for the first time ever. This week four additional Russian warships will be arriving in Havana joining nuclear capable ships already there. China is buying all of Irans oil production enabling them to rearm their proxies in the Middle-East. Meanwhile “our democracy” is not geared to fight a two front war and our munition reserves are only sufficient for us to hold our own for ten days. A window of opportunity is now open for our adversaries – “our democracy” indeed faces an existential threat, but not from the Orange Ogre.
“Our democracy” has not seen or experienced a military defeat of the magnitude we now face for generations. We, all of us, need to stop playing games and get real about facing real threats. But we won’t it’s too much fun to play gotcha.
