||| FROM NATASHA WARMENHOVEN, CANDIDATE FOR SAN JUAN COUNTY AUDITOR |||
Natasha Warmenhoven is proud and excited to announce her candidacy for re-election as San Juan County Auditor. Over the last four years, Natasha has served the residents of San Juan County with a commitment to transparency, fiscal
responsibility, and delivering dependable county services.
As Auditor, Natasha has been a steady and reliable leader during a transformative period for our local government. Her tenure has been defined by a focus on “getting the work done and done right,” ensuring that every ballot is counted securely and impartially, every financial report is accurate, and every resident is served with professionalism and respect.
A Record of Accomplishment
During her first term, Natasha has overseen several key initiatives that have strengthened the Auditor’s office and benefited our community:
Balanced & Accessible Budgeting: Working closely with the County Council and Department leaders, Natasha played a important role in navigating complex budget cycles, helping to deliver balanced budgets for the 2024-2025 biennial budget and the 2026 annual budget, despite significant economic pressures. Natasha worked to standardize the budget book, implement a Budget-in-Brief, and expand quarterly financial reports, making County financials more accessible to the community.
Election Integrity & Outreach: Natasha has prioritized an informed electorate by actively recruiting diverse voices for voter guides and committees, and ensuring that every election; from local levies to national races, is conducted with the highest level of security and transparency.
Collaborative Environment: Natasha has challenged herself and her staff to meticulously research law and policy, implement streamlined procedures, and cross-train within and across departments. This ensures that our customers receive the best service. Well documented procedures and cross-training eliminates disruptions to service during staff absences.
Financial Modernization &Accountability: Natasha is leading the effort to implement a new financial management system for the County. This transition is crucial for improving efficiency and ensuring that San Juan County remains fiscally accountable. The transition was placed on hold due to staffing constraints but is now well under way with a go live date of March 2027, in time to replace the current software as it reaches it’s end-of-life.
Online Dog Licensing: Natasha developed an online dog licensing system providing easier access to all dog owners, regardless of their home island.
Continued Trust & Operational Excellence: From processing thousands of licenses to maintaining meticulous financial records to overseeing mandatory hand recounts with 100% accuracy, Natasha has ensured the Auditor’s Office continues to run smoothly.
Natasha appreciates her staff that show up for this community to provide exceptional and reliable service. The role of Auditor is impossible to do as one person, and Natasha is constantly impressed with the expertise and professionalism that her staff bring to their respective roles. The success of the Auditor’s Office is credited to their hard work, dedication,
and passion.
Experience Over Uncertainty
The role of County Auditor requires more than just technical knowledge; it requires a temperament characterized by professionalism, level-headedness, and a dedication to the oath of office.
“The Auditor’s office is a foundation of our county’s trust” says Natasha Warmenhoven. “It requires a leader who remains focused on the mission, encourages excellence with every interaction, treats all employees and residents with dignity, and brings a calm, steady hand to the daily challenges of local government. I am running to continue the progress we’ve made and to ensure this office remains a place of stability and exceptional quality for all islanders."
Looking Forward
Natasha’s vision for the next four years includes completing the transformation of the county’s enterprise resource planning software, continuing to protect the integrity of our local elections, and maintaining the highest standard of fiscal management that San Juan County residents expect and deserve.
Natasha will continue to build a mindset that treats every moment, no matter how small, as an opportunity to build trust, create value, and reflect on the Auditor Office’s high standards. We invite the community to support a proven leader who has already demonstrated she can do the job, and do it well.
Re-elect Natasha Warmenhoven. Experience. Integrity. Stability.
