Nature photography workshop at Turtleback Mountain Preserve  from 3:30 pm to 9 pm for photographers of all levels. The workshop, hosted by the San Juan Preservation Trust,  will be taught by Mark Gardner and Bob Stavers. Limited to 15 participants. Orcas Island Community Foundation Grant Awards Ceremony, 2 p.m. at the Orcas Center

Orcas Island Town Hall with Richard Fralick and Patty Miller, from 4 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. at the Eastsound Fire Hall. Discussion will focus on Balancing the County Budget in Tough Economic Times, the Criminal Justice/ Public Safety Sales Tax primary ballot measure, and the Critical Areas Ordinance and Shoreline Master Plan Update. An open questions and answers forum will follow the presentations. Other County issues will be discussed as time permits. Spring Shredding Event from Noon – 4 pm @ Islanders Bank Parking Lot. Paper documents will be destroyed for FREE. Watch as it is shredded live by our secure vendor CINTAS. Sponsored by Islanders Bank’s Relay For Life Team. Donations are gladly accepted.

Orcas Museum Season Opening Party at 4:30 p.m. at the Historical Museum on North Beach Road right next to the Village Green. Festivities take place inside the Museum and on the front walkway as weather permits, including finger food, refreshments and live music. The public is welcome to visit the Museum at no admission charge during the party. Call 376-4849.

Encore presentation of “One Man, Two Guvnors” the first play from Britain’s National Theater Lives 2011-12 season, based on ‘The Servant of Two Masters’ by Carlo Goldoni with songs by Grant Olding. 7:30 p.m. at Orcas Center. Fired from his skiffle band, Francis Henshall becomes minder to Roscoe Crabbe, a small time East End hood, now in Brighton to collect big money from his fiancee’s dad. But Roscoe is really his sister Rachel posing as her own dead brother, who’s been killed by her boyfriend Stanley Stubbers. Holed up at The Cricketers’ Arms, the permanently ravenous Francis spots the chance of an extra meal ticket and takes a second job with one Stanley Stubbers, who is hiding from the police and waiting to be re-united with Rachel. Kaleidoscope Pet Parade, gather at 10 a.m. at the Orcas Island Elementary School for judging, Parade starts at 11 a.m. and proceed down Prune Alley and up North Beach Road to the Village Green.

Bite of Orcas to benefit Wolf Hollow Animal Rehabilitation Center at the Eastsound Village Green.

Food for Thought, Orcas Island Education Foundation’s major fundraiser for our public schools is a “Picnic By The Sea” at Four Winds Camp. Enjoy great barbequed brisket, hamburgers, veggie options, all the delicious sides, and desserts. Beer, wine and lemonade will be available and toe-tapping music provided by the incomparable JP and the OK Rhythm Boys. Tickets are only $40 per person or $75 per couple, and includes free childcare at the Camp during the picnic if you need it, and a free ride! If you don’t want to drive, a school bus will be waiting for you in front of the school at 5:30 p.m. so you don’t have to spend gas to get there…just leave the driving to us! The event starts at 6 and the bus will take you back to the school on or before 9 p.m.

Clean and Sober Dance at Odd Fellows Hall clean and sober  islanders have planned a dance for all ages  from 8:30 pm – 12:30am. Everyone is invited.
