Orcas Island School District’s Elementary and Middle School Principal Tom Gobeske announced recently that he and his wife Gini, will be leaving Orcas Island at the end of the school year.
“Although, we dearly love our beautiful island and our wonderful community, we have come to the unfortunate conclusion that we can no longer afford to live here,” Gobeske said in a letter to district staff on April 8.
Gobeske became Elementary Principal in 2007, upon former Elementary Principal Coleen O’Brien’s resignation. During the 2008-2009 school year, Gobeske took on the additional tasks of Middle School Principal and supervisor of maintenance, transportation and food services.
In his letter, Gobeske wrote, “The two years that I have spent here have been extremely rewarding and I am so proud of the many things that we have accomplished as a staff.”
