There are two planned outages for different areas of Orcas Island during the early morning hours of Friday, July 29:
Orcas Island West from 12:30 to 4 a.m.
Eastsound from 11:45 p.m. July 28 until 4 a.m. July 29.
Please read below see if and how your area may be affected.
1) Planned Outage: Orcas Island WEST – There will be a planned outage on Orcas Island over night beginning early Friday morning, July 29th at 12:30am until 4am. The outage affects the western half of Orcas Island beginning at the intersection of Main Street and Orcas Road, continuing out of town on Orcas Road and including Crow Valley, West Sound, Massacre Bay, Deer Harbor, Spring Point, Orcas Village, Dolphin Bay, and White Beach Road. The outage is for system improvements.
2) Planned Outage: Orcas Island EASTSOUND – There will be a planned outage on Orcas Island affecting the downtown Eastsound area over night beginning 11:45pm Thursday, July 28th until 4am early Friday morning, July 29th. The outage affects the areas of Crescent Beach, Madrona, all of downtown Eastsound, Lover’s Lane, Enchanted Forest, and extending north to Mount Baker Road. The outage is planned for system improvements.
Members are responsible for their own equipment and OPALCO encourages all members to install surge protection to safeguard electronic, computer and other sensitive equipment and appliances. To prepare for an outage, members may want to turn sensitive electronics and equipment off at the surge protector, or unplug them completely – and keep a flashlight handy.
