Lack of quorum for regular meeting necessitates re-scheduling

The Port of Orcas Regular Meeting, scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 13, could not be held for lack of a quorum of the tax district’s commissioners. In attendance were Commissioners Brian Ehrmantraut and Greg Sawyer. Absent were commissioners Dwight Guss, Steve Hopkins, and Shawn Simpson. Port Manager Tony Simpson was also in attendance.

About a half-dozen members of the public and press were in attendance at the 4:30 start of the meeting.

The port commissioners have been working in smaller Task Groups. One task group concerns the wetland mitigation on the port property; a second group is a search for a replacement for Simpson, who has resigned as Port Manager.

On the Dec. 13 agenda was:
Approval of vouchers and payroll:

  • Nov 2018-B – General Fund voucher     $3,918.02 
  • Nov. 2018 B – Capital Fund Voucher  $86,317.87
  • Dec. 2018-A General Fund Voucher       $2,547.61
  • Dec. 2018-A Capital Fund Voucher        $2,437.30
  • Nov. 2018 Payroll                                  $10,386.23

TOTAL                                              $105,607.03

The agenda for the Dec. 13 meeting called for unfinished business:

  • Staffing subcommittee report and airport manager  recruitment
