Children’s Poetry reading – The Orcas Island Public Library invites the Orcas community to a poetry reading featuring young poets reading their original poems  at 7 p.m. in the Library’s meeting room.

Knute Berger, author of Pugetopolis: A Mossback Takes on Growth Addicts, Weather Wimps, and the Myth of the Seattle Nice, will be visiting Orcas for a free reading at Darvill’s Bookstore at 7 p.m.  376-2135.

Sustainable San Juans:  Greening Your Home, Business and Food from Friday, April 17  to  Sunday, April 19; see times below) This takes place on San Juan Island. Granny’s Attic Amazing Sale at Orcas Senior Center. It’s the ultimate yard sale – all under one roof.  The sale benefits the Orcas Senior Center.  A silent auction is planned for items like a table saw and large furniture. During the last hour (2 pm – 3 pm), shoppers can fill a bag for $5 in the general room. Call the Center at 376-2677.

Rosario Community Multi-Family Garage Sale from 11 am – 3 pm @ the Discovery House of Rosario Resort — 15 families and organizations from the Rosario Community will have their treasures on sale.  Paul Carrick will be selling his barbecue ribs.  Proceeds donated to the “Breast Cancer Cure Walk”.  “Rosario Resort is providing use of the Discovery House without charge, for which we are very grateful.” Contact:  Karen Ritter at 376-5288.

The Friends of Moran and park staff invite you to join in this year’s Annual Park Clean-up. Refreshments and lunch will be served.  Meet at the Cascade Lake day use area at 10 a.m. and bring gloves and tools to use in cleaning up camp grounds, trails and other areas. PTSA roller skate repair party; volunteers needed! from 9 am – 1 pm in the Old Gym. PTSA recently concluded another fun year of Friday night roller skating sessions at the school. Now’s the time to give some TLC to our well-used skates.  Bring a socket set, screwdriver or pliers, if you have them, and join the PTSA and Kiwanis Club as we refurbish all the skates we can.
