Thursday, June 27, between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m., Orcas Senior Center

The newly formed Orcas CARES Coalition, which includes representative from Orcas Island Fire and Rescue, Orcas Senior Center, Hearts & Hands, San Juan County Sheriff’s Office, Orcas Medical Foundation and Lahari, are joining forces on June 27, 2013 to help make sure island residents are prepared for medical emergencies. Participants are invited to attend any time between 9 a.m.–1 p.m.

In an emergency, having information available to first responders is critical for quality care and treatment. Members of the Coalition will be on hand to help residents complete “Life Forms Packets.” Volunteers will assist with completing the forms, providing “baseline” EKG’s, blood pressure checks and basic vital signs. There will also be information available on completing POLST (Physician Orders for Life-Sustaining Treatment) forms and Power of Attorney needs.

Once finished, participants will also be treated to either breakfast or lunch! FREE!!! (Breakfast served from 9am- 11am; Lunch served from 11am – 1pm).
