A Grand Opening will celebrate the opening of the Peter C. Fisher Gallery this Saturday in Eastsound. The gallery is located between Homegrown Market and Shearwater Kayak Tours. at 138 North Beach Road Suite 103 in Doty’s Marketplace.
The opening reception from 5 to 8 p.m. this Saturday, displays the photography exhibit “Chalk is Cheap: Urban Quirks.”
“If you don’t have a sense of humor, the pictures won’t be funny,” claims Peter Fisher (quoting clown Wavy Gravy) about these twelve fun and thought-provoking pictures.
“How we look at the world is under whimsical examination in this light-hearted portfolio. Irony, wisdom, mischief, nonsense – what do you think is really going on here? These unstaged photographs were spontaneously formed by a serendipitous confluence of unexpected and entertaining events or insights, said Fisher.
In addition to mounting several shows a year of large prints, the gallery will feature rotating displays of medium- and small-size prints of Fisher’s landscapes and conceptual artwork.
The conservation-quality, limited-edition prints are made by Fisher, who shoots on film then scans into Photoshop. He says, “Modern inkjet printers use cotton-based papers and durable pigment inks — similar to painters’ materials — to offer today’s digital artists a consistent and flexible tool for creating artwork.”
The show continues through June. Call for more information 376-5955; To get on an email list of upcoming shows: pcf@petercfisher.com
