PeaceHealth Peace Island Medical Center (PIMC), at 1117 Spring St. in Friday Harbor, will host a free, community Health Fair from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 15. The event includes an Open House to welcome two of PIMC’s newest providers to the community.
The Open House and Health Fair will include opportunities for Islanders to learn more about their health and wellness, and to take action. Activities include:
- Free flu shots;
- A nutrition station;
- PatientConnection information;
- Health snacks and beverages;
- An area for children with activities and ;
- “Talk with a Doctor” information sessions followed by Question and Answer
- William Gunderson at 1:30 p.m.
- Cheryl Kubisty, 2 p.m.
- Cancer Center station, featuring local partners for holistic healing, such as foot reflexology and Reiki;
- Giveaways, and more.
I called the Friday Harbor hospital two days in a row this last week and got caught in a phone-tree loop. (Their recording admitted they were trying a new system.) Before inviting the public to a Fair, it would be helpful if their phone system allowed one to reach a live person.
I only had a question as to if the hospital has mammogram capability. I am less than enthusiastic now to be a “customer” considering multiple calls without answers or even the satisfaction of reaching a department where one could leave a message.
I, on the other hand, had a necessary procedure done at Peace Island Hospital, Friday Harbor and found them professional, courteous, helpful and not at all difficult to communicate with. As you said, ‘they were trying a new system’. Have you been there? Lets not jump to conclusions.
