||| FROM QASIM ALI DINO for OPAL COMMUNITY LAND TRUST |||
The Pea Patch property,11 acres at 55 Pea Patch Lane, is envisioned to serve as a nonprofit campus connecting neighboring properties with new buildings for the Orcas Island Food Bank, the Orcas Community Resource Center, and 20 rental dwellings of supportive-housing to be built by OPAL Community Land Trust.
The Pea Patch Steering Committee* is hosting a series of community workshops on Friday and Saturday, April 5-6 to gather ideas for the design and construction of the campus on Pea Patch Lane. This is the beginning of the design process.
We are eager to hear from our community at an open workshop on Saturday, April 6 from 2:00 – 4:00pm at the Public School Cafeteria. Orcas community members are invited to attend. The open workshop for the Pea Patch property development will provide an opportunity to voice your ideas. OPAL, the Resource Center and the Food Bank all appreciate the value of local knowledge and intend to create a place that can best serve the community in a variety of ways.
The Saturday workshop will include an introductory presentation about the project and an interactive opportunity to offer their ideas for site amenities and features. The workshop will be facilitated by Environmental Works, the architecture firm hired by OPAL,
the Food Bank and the Resource Center.
