— suggested by an Orcas Issues reader —
The Puget Sound Regional Council (PSRC) is studying potential passenger-only ferry (POF) service around Puget Sound and would appreciate your input on potential POF terminal locations, routes, and priorities.
Please help us by taking this brief 10-minute survey.
A few notes about this survey:
- The survey works best when viewed on a full screen (not a mobile device.)
- Required responses are indicated by an asterisk (*).
- If you have any problems or questions, please email POF_Study@psrc.org.

(I’m the one who submitted this, something I saw on Twitter.) The way it’s posted here there is no way to access the questionnaire. This link might work better — although be warned that the questionnaire is, to me, way broader than just whether you think a passenger ferry from Bellingham and stopping at Orcas landing and Friday Harbor is a good idea. I have reservations about it. Here’s the link:

After quite a bit of searching I found the survey at

Orcas is not one of the destinations, but a Bellingham to Friday Harbor route is being considered.
Hi Eleanor! I hope you’re right, even though one of their maps shows Orcas Island as a stop on a Bellingham-Friday Harbor route, even listing the Orcas landing as “existing WSF terminal.” Envision a passenger ferry disgorging X number of passengers at Orcas Landing several times a day. Maybe if people fill the survey more of this idea might be revealed.
Thank you for this!
In 2007 there was a “Transportation Summit” that took place at the county fairgrounds. At that time the Port of Friday Harbor was talking with a boat building company in Bellingham about a passenger ferry between Bellingham and Friday Harbor, Orcas voices suggested the boat could possibly stop at Brandts Landing. It was all very exciting, and then the economic downturn happened and the project stopped.
I am very much in favor of passenger ferries! Victoria Clipper used to come to Rosario!
