Orcas Voters have until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, February 8, to drop off their ballots at the County Elections Office in Friday Harbor OR in a drop box located  at the Orcas Island Senior Center, 62 Henry Rd., Eastsound.

Ballots returned by mail must be postmarked no later than February 8, 2011, (the Eastsound Post Office closes at 3 p.m.) and should be addressed to the San Juan County Auditor, P.O. Box 638, Friday Harbor, Washington 98250. Standard first class postage is required when returning ballots by mail.

The sole issue on the ballot is  the Orcas Island Park & Recreation District Levy Proposition No. 1, which asks:

The board of Commissioners of the Orcas Island Park and Recreation District adopted Resolution No. 2010-03 concerning district funding. This measure would impose a regular property tax levy in the amount of nine cents per $1000 of assessed value for six years, subject to the limit factors in RCW Chapter 84.55, for the purpose of funding recreational and park programs, services and activities on Orcas Island. Should this proposition be: Approved or Rejected.

Replacement ballots may be obtained in person, by phone, email, or fax by contacting the San Juan County Elections Office, 55 Second Street, Suite A, PO Box 638, Friday Harbor, WA, (360) 378-3357, until 8:00 p.m. on the day of the election.

All voters in San Juan County vote by mail. In accordance with RCW 29A.04.220 notice is also given that assistance is available for elderly and disabled voters with registration and vote-by-mail ballots.  Any voter may also use the Accessible Voting Unit located in the San Juan County Elections Department, 55 2nd St., Suite A, Friday Harbor, WA 92850.  Call (360)378-3357 for more information.
