— from Lorena Stankevich, Orcas Island Elementary School —

SAFE San Juans and Orcas Island Elementary are working together to provide an informative night for parents of elementary age children on Monday, June 4th at 5:30 pm. It will be at the Orcas Island School Cafeteria and childcare will be offered by the Funhouse Commons. Dinner will be provided.

Local professionals will present and lead discussions about Positive, Age Appropriate Sexualtiy Education, Empowering Children to Honor their Own Bodies, and Sexual Abuse Prevention.

Sexual abuse is never an easy topic to address. During community discussions about how San Juan County can participate in the #metoo movement, it was requested that there be more education and discussions around this sensitive topic.

Call SAFE San Juans at (360) 376-5979 or OIES School Counselor Sandi Burt (360) 376-1592 for more information.
