From The Funhouse
Interested in helping Orcas kids–but not sure how? Not sure if you have the time? Beginning December 1st, the Funhouse will launch a new volunteer training program “Working Well With Kids.”
With the cooperation of Orcas Island Prevention Partnership (OIPP), local experts and Funhouse staff, we’ll walk you through the many ways you can work effectively with Orcas kids and teens, and show you a wide array of volunteering opportunities to choose from.
From helping with crafts in our art studio, to helping with homework after school, to hanging out during teen night, to becoming a mentor—there are volunteer opportunities large and small. We will give you the skills and confidence to make a difference in these kids lives.
This training will also give participants the tools they need to work effectively with the diverse group of children and teens that use The Funhouse. Skills that include Connecting with Care, Positive Discipline, Mentoring and Managing Group Dynamics.
No commitment is required—if you are interested, please join us! Plans are to hold a new volunteer training on the first Tuesday of every month from 12 to 12:45 p.m. Please contact Whitney at 376-7177, to reserve a spot in next Tuesday’s training, Dec. 1.
If you are interested in this opportunity, but are unable to attend at this time please contact us so we can arrange an alternate time.
