San Juan County Parks Department continues its Music In the Park summer series in the Stage on the Green in Eastsound with the popular swing band Orcatrazz on Sunday August 2. Showtime is 6 to 7:30 p.m. and the concert is free to all.
“Bring your chairs and blankets and of course your dancing shoes to enjoy the sounds of this 16-piece band which specializes in the music of the big band era,” says Orcatrazz leader Ken Speck.
Orcatrazz members have varied experiences ranging from amateur to professional including student, teachers and studio musicians. Speck has performed and traveled with his own band for a number of years.
Orcatrazz personnel are Bob Littlewood on Clarinet; Sam Windsor, Tom Slater, Greg Books ,Ginny Soderlund, Kailey Grantham, and Judy Whiting on Saxophones; Karen Key Speck, Bruce Heller and Joe Boucher on Trombones; Pat Muffett, Dave Durand, Wayne Holm and Russ Harvey on Trumpets; and a great rhythm section with Ron Meyers at the piano, Marilyn Parman on Bass, Chris Waage guitar, and Randy Jezeirski on the drum set.
