The newly formed Orcas Island School District (OISD) Site Council and the School Board will both meet Thursday, Aug. 27th. The Site Council meets at 10 a.m. in the school library and will feature a presentation on providing differentiated student learning options by Elizabeth Morris, the OISD Site Council’s ALE parent representative.
The Orcas Island School District Board will open its regular meeting to the public at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, also in the school library.
Their action items on their agenda include:
— Approve the Classified Staff Wage Schedule for 2009-10
— Approve the Consent Agenda
— Approve release of Capital Projects funds to hire architect for architectural schematics.
— Determine process for selection of project architect.
— Discuss Doe Bay Water Users Lease of OISD property (bus barn).
— Adoption of Revised Policy 1114, 3142, 3142P, 6800 (see attachment)
— Approve Music Advocacy Group donation of $7,000.00.
— Approve Memo of Understanding between the district and the Orcas Education Association (OEA)OU between OISD and OEA re Health Reimbursement Plan.
In addition to public announcements and comments, a special report will be given by Trevor Carlson, Bond Consultant to the Board.
The Teachers’ Association, Public School Employees organization, Orcas island Education Foundaton and the Parent-Teacher-Student Association will give reports, as will the school administrators – Ben Thomas, Business Manager, Barbara Kline, Superintendent/High School Principal, Kyle Freeman, K-8 Principal.
Discussion of an increase to the levy lid, possible acceptance of shop equipment donation, and negotiations with the fire department about bus maintenance are also on the agenda.
