The Orcas Island School District has engaged Orcas Island Family Therapist Beth Jenson, LMHC, to present two workshops on child-youth peer relationships the next two Wednesday evenings.

On Wednesday, Jan. 15  Jenson will meet parents of school children to talk to parents about “When Friends Aren’t So Friendly: Relational Aggression in Girls and What We Can Do” (troubled by gossip, taunts, name-calling, rumors, exclusion and other problems in girls’ — especially — relationships?) Wednesday, Jan. 15 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the School Library

The following Wednesday, Jan. 22, those interested will discuss “Beyond Bravado: Protecting the Emotional Life of Boys” — Wednesday, Jan. 22 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the School Library

Geared especially for the concerns of 6th-12th grade parents (parents of younger students don’t forget yours’ will be 6th graders soon!) ALL parents are welcome to attend BOTH sessions.

Childcare available — must pre-register: The School District is collaborating with the Funhouse Commons to provide childcare for these two Wednesday workshops. Childcare will be available from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Funhouse Commons on Enchanted Forest and North Beach Roads. Please be sure to call 376-1566 by end of day, Monday, Jan. 13 to save a spot for your child at the Jan. 15 meeting.
