— from Sharon Abreu —
In conjunction with World Beyond War and SingPeace!, and welcomed by the Orcas Island Unitarian Universalist Fellowship (OIUUF), members of the Orcas Peace Chorus will sing to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Armistice Day, on Sunday, November 11, 2018 at 11:30 am at Benson Hall (inside the Episcopal Church building, to the right of the sanctuary) in Eastsound.
We’ll have a short presentation on Armistice Day and the Orcas Peace Chorus will sing a few songs during the UU service, which goes from 11:30am – 12:30pm.
Come celebrate peace around the world with us this November 11, 2018, the 100th anniversary of Armistice Day, the end of World War I.
This Armistice Day, our goals are to:
  • Stop the glorification of war
  • Divest from the war machine and use public dollars for human and environmental needs
  • End all wars (by addressing the root causes of violence, domestically and internationally)
  • Return Veteran’s Day in the U.S. to Armistice Day, a day to celebrate peace
Orcas Island Unitarian Universalist Fellowship services are open to all. Guests are invited (but not required) to bring a finger food to share for coffee time following the service.
The OIUUF accepts donations for the Orcas Food Bank at each service.
