The holidays are upon us, and now is a great time to deck the halls with wreaths aplenty! Check an item off your holiday to-do list while also sharing in a ‘noble’ island tradition. For 26 years running, Orcas Montessori School has brought these beautiful 24” noble fir wreaths to the shores of Orcas Island.
Handcrafted in Washington, they are decorated with fragrant juniper berries, yellow tipped incense cedar, and pinecones, then finished off with a rich red velvet bow. They smell delicious, last for months, and are a special, festive way to welcome folks into
your home or business during this heartwarming time of year.
The wreath sale is a critical piece of Orcas Montessori School’s annual fundraising efforts. Support local early childhood education and purchase a wreath or two for your home or business. They make excellent gifts too. Consider surprising a loved one with a wreath to grace their front door or offering one as a unique “thank you” to an important colleague who has made a particular impact on your business this year.
Purchase your $28 wreath at Ray’s Pharmacy, Con’s Pit Stop and Orcas Food Co-op. You may also place an order online and by phone by contacting Orcas Montessori School at (360) 376-5350. Web and phone orders can be picked up at the school or delivered locally on-island. Pre-orders can be made via the website to get 10% off orders of $75 or more up through November 4. Kick off your holiday season and treat yourself while investing in the youth of Orcas Island!
Founded in 1988, the school offers a dynamic learning environment for preschoolers and kindergartners based on the educational philosophy and methods of Dr. Maria Montessori – Italy’s first female physician and a pioneer in childhood education. Students create a community of learners in which the younger students observe the developing skills of the older students, while the older children develop leadership skills and help the younger students. This approach fosters independent learning and a lively, cooperative system. The Orcas Montessori School is a 501c3 non-profit organization.
