Aside from the birth of my child, and marrying my wife, The Democratic National Convention in Chicago was one of the most inspirational events of my life. As the convention was held in Chicago, and in these trying times, many in the media saw the parallels of the 1968 Convention where battles took place both inside and outside of the convention center, mostly in protest of the Vietnam War.  During this year’s convention, however, there was a great sense of unity.

I was on assignment for “Adelante Forward Magazine” a publication that serves Hispanic and Latino communities across Mid-Michigan. The convention, to me, is about the Delegates, who face both personal and financial burdens to represent their state and delegation. I have never witnessed such pride and emotion as I did during the four nights of the DNC and most of the people I spoke with said it was the highlight of their lifetime.

The four days of the convention started with the Caucus and Council meetings in the morning, and the convention started at 5:30PM and went on past 11 PM.

The convention took place on August 19 – 22, 2024 at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois.
