— from Kim Kimple for Orcas Fire & Rescue —

Due to the ongoing and changing COVID-19 situation, Orcas Island Fire & Rescue has made the decision to close the fire station to the public. We took the step last week of cancelling all public meetings through the end of March to help slow the potential spread of the virus.

The closure will be assessed at the end of the month for possible extension.

We do not take this decision lightly, but we need to make sure the public and our responders have the best chance to minimize possible exposure. We continue to respond to emergencies and are taking necessary steps outlined by our Medical Control Physician to help protect our responders.

  • If you have an emergency, dial 911 as usual and we will come to you.
  • Call our office at 360-376-2331 if you have questions. We are still here answering phones from 8-4, M-F.
  • Our district website has a lot of information and useful links.
  • Burn permits may still be purchase online.
  • The Fire Marshal is available by phone at 360-378-FIRE(3473) to help you with the online process. Please leave him a message if needing assistance.

Thank you for your understanding as we come together as a community to get through these uncertain times.
