— from Donna Laslo for Orcas Island Film Festival —
By now we are all too aware of the novel coronavirus and how it’s impacting our world health and economy. In order to contain or slow down the rate of infection, state and local officials are discouraging large gatherings.
Orcas Island Film Festival board of directors understand the potential impact the coronavirus could have on our island families and we want to do our part to help slow the spread of this virus and protect the health of our community, patrons, volunteers, and staff. After much consideration and with utmost caution, we have decided to cancel our monthly arthouse screenings in addition to our planned spring mini-fest scheduled for May. We look forward to the possibility of re-starting our programs in June with new dates for our spring mini-festival of eight brand new feature films. We would only proceed with any future dates by following the recommendations from state government health organizations. Thank you for your ongoing support and understanding.
On a lighter note, now is the time for some great home content! We thought it would be fun to have our film curator Carl Spence create a special list of film recommendations that you can watch safely at home with a nice big bowl of popcorn. Sign up for our mailing list at www.orcasfilmfest.com to get on our email list and to receive details on film recommendations for streaming at home.
